That's right kids!
To update those that don't know, we recently have been developing the VQ35 trying to get every last horsepower out of the motor - testing one part at a time. We just removed our "race" engine after trying ported heads for the last few races, we lost a lot of HP from these heads due to the fact that they were just tooo large for a stock compression engine.
So we installed a bone stock engine (our spare engine) - this engine has never been cracked open except to change to the NISMO cams. Stock pistons, rods, HG, crank - nothing has been touched. Just SG headers + exh, tilton clutch + flywheel, motordyne spacer, 2mm+ throttle body, ECU tune and unorthadox crank pulley. THAT IS IT! The result? 317whp on our dyna-pack, that reads non-revup VQs at 210-215whp. It's wild!
But dyno numbers aren't exciting anymore boys! We were at a drift day on Thursday running the car through its paces and put together a short video, inspired by nothing less than Days Of Thunder. If you remember that movie you'll love this short video!
The next things on the list to make more power is a re-try on cylinder head porting, raising compression to 11.5 or 12:1, and changing to a more aggressive cam. If we can keep our 260ft lbs of TQ a little higher in the RPM, we should be able to make 340whp in the near future.
Enjoy the video! I will post the Dyno plot soon.

It's a stock hood!
Thanks for the kind words guys, I will update the Header thread once I have a big update from the shop, which will be soon!
We've got a Mosport race Aug 8-9, if you're in the area or not doing anything that weekend I would love to have you guys come by and see what racing is all about! It's just a regional race so it will be low stress and we'll have plenty of time to chat and share about the car.
I'll update further when we've got the time sorted out.
I'm working on a vac bagged frp splitter right now and just got an APR GTC-300 in that I'm mounting up, so the car should be a ton faster at Mosport - I'm really excited to see how much time I can shave off. Currently the car is doing high 1.31s, but with the 3.5" exhaust, larger headers and the aero the car should be well into the 29s with any luck! - To put it in perspective that is faster than World Challenge cars (30s) and all Koni Challenge cars (30s-31s).
