No there is two generations of the spring booster. First gen which is switchless and second gen which had an on off switch basically.
Unless you actually know the guy and know for a fact that his is the first gen.

Your car is 6mt no? It doesn't do a whole lot for the 6spds. Works wonders for the 2003.5+ autos.
I'll be picking this up for my buddy in BC though.
