What could cause this?
Well we jacked up our 350 today because it was making this God awful exhaust noise. Well it wasn't awful but it was so damn loud. We were checking for cracks in the test pipes but no. The entire pipe directly after the Y-pipe was busted off, like someone had just cut it off, but not that clean of a cut. Could the Helix test pipes have put that much stress on the pipe back there that it caused it to snap? What could've happened? Has anyone else had this problem?

Wow, the first thing that comes to mind is manufactures defect. Even running at very high temps, you shouldn't have a pipe break like that? There has to have been some type of pre-existing crack that was aggravated by high temp or maybe even low temp. There is a phenomina called brittle fracture. Its kinda like putting hot water on a frozen windshield and watch go "crack".

Well, the manufacturer was Nissan. We didn't have an aftermarket exhaust yet. (Thank God) So we stripped the car of mods and plan on taking it into Nissan as soon as possible. Man is it ever loud. I'll get a video or sound clip of it so you can listen to what your Z would sound like mufflerless.
