Question trans / diff temp sensors?

I'm interested in adding a sensor to the trans and diff to monitor temps. While I was changing my trans and diff oils, my brother was working on his '05 STi, and we noticed a sensor attached to the fill on the diff. I was wondering if it would be possible to duplicate such a set up - instead of drilling and tapping the diff/trans cases (which I am loathe to do), just replace the fill or drain bolt with a sensor.

Of course, the follow-on question is, if I can install the sensors that way, what kind of gauge system can I run them to? I'm considering pulling the center console storage bin (where the nav goes if you get it), and fabricating something to fit in there, but would like to leave room for FI gauges (WBO2/EGT/boost). Are there aftermarket products being made for this?

I'd also like to add a real water temp gauge. Anyone figure out a way to get the factory gauge to read real values instead the basic idiot gauge/light it is oem?

You could use the Defi Oil Temp sensor/sender units plus the Defi Link Display which requires the Link Controller.

Do you know how many gauges the Defi controller supports? At this point, I'm looking at probably 6 I'd like to have...
