Default UR Crank Pulley, Still Squeaking

I recently installed a UR crank pulley. I know that the belts will squeak and require minor adjustments over time, but this is the third time that I have tightened them. Could they be squeaking because they are too tight possibly? Are there certain torque specs that the tensioner should be set to?

I have always heard to tighten them until you cannot twist the belts 90 degrees. So if you grab the belt and there is no twist in them at all, you are too tight. If you can twist them to 90 degrees or more, too loose.

All of the above! I`am sure that there are some Torque Specs on the pullies and I think the way to set your belts is there is amount of presure applied on the belt between pullies and a dimesion of up and down movement. Stay witin those dims. and you should be OK. Just my .2 cents.

It happened to my friend as well... it was not about whether the belt is tighten or not.... he had his checked and got it re-tighten several times but the belt couldn't be tighten up anymore..... and they found out that the belt from UR was slightly "wider" (about half a mm) than the pulley, so they just simply changed the belt, noise was gone from then...

Hope you can resolve the problem soon!

cheers,

richie

if the belts are sufficiently tight (about 1/9 inch deflection total), you can rub some soap on the bottom side of belt - will quiet it down

Thanks for the help, I think that the belts just might be too tight. When it is really cold outside the belts tend to squeal a lot more. After a lot of driving the squeal tends to go away. This makes me think that they may just be too tight and are expanding slightly once they get warm. Could this be the case? I do have the belts pretty tight and can not squeeze them to a 90 degree angle.
