Thumbs down Installed UR Pulley now rough idle

I put the crank pulley on my 04 5AT today and now I have a rough idle - feels like it wants to stall. I haven't driven it yet out of the garage.

Anyone seen anything like this with a UR crank pulley install?

This is a 5AT - any chance I damanged the flexplate/flywheel using a crowbar to hold it in place? If so, can this have any affect on idle?

Thanks.

I doubt you did any damage during the install. did you disconnect the battery when you installed it? If so, that would cause a rough idle. Either way take it for a drive and see if it changes.

Something is definitely wrong. Any chance the belts are too loose or too tight?

I have a 5AT, installed the pulley myself, and the idle has been smooth as ever, so you want to fix this ASAP. Sorry that I can't help more.

Sounds strange... Make sure everything is plugged back in. Check the connection on your intake for the MAF. Mine was loose once and all the lights came on. Plugged it back in and no probs.

I went over all that, but none of it was removed for this install. It was off 2 weeks ago when the Kinetix plenum went on, but we haven't had problems with it.

sometimes you have to adjust the idle on the car. We had to do that with my 04 6spd. Take the car into your dealer, they probably will charge you to do it, but they can do it, even if it's not much of an adjustment, it'll help, trust me.

how did you go about removing the factory crank pulley and torqueing down the new one?

did you use a chain wrench?

im have somewhat the same problems with my z. but the problems started just recently. i've had UR pulley on for about 8 months.

very rough idle, and even a loud clunk at times. the CEL light does come on every now n then but goes away within 2-3 days. i dont know what the problem could be. its either my 2 step colder plugs or the pulley. im hoping its 1 of the 2 and not something worse.

could a bad MAF sensor cause this and how would i be able to find out if it has gone bad?

Open inspection plate. Jammed crowbar into teeth to hold it in place. Broke it loose with a 18" breaker bar. Everything seemed to go pretty good, but the crowbar slipped a couple times and slightly rounded a tooth. The car starts fine though, so I didn't think that was anything? The old pulley came out easy and the UR went on easy. Torqued to UR's specs.

I ran into the same issue, but not until after I installed my TT kit . . . removed the pulley and still has a rough idle I'm pretty sure I'm going to have the dealer adjust it a touch. On a side note, it tends to idle much smoother when the AC is on.

That's why you use an air gun, or do the breaker bar trick. Seen too many pulleys destroyed from inexperience

Put it all back to stock and the problem is still there. Dropped it off at the dealer tonight - we'll see what happens.

Mine idles pretty rough. The dealer here just replaced the MAF thinking it was the cause but the car still idles the same. It's not too bad it's just bothersome. It's been doing it since the UR pulley install.

This is more than just a rough idle. At a stop light, it feels like it is going to die. When driving, the tach is all over the place bouncing up and down. I also experience unexpected shifting (this is a 5AT) probably related to the RPM's being all over the place. Really feels like a bad sensor of some kind.

Dealer just called - bad crank position sensor. Don't know how I damaged it - but I guess I did.
