Default 3.9 Final Drive Review

Just got my final drive installed yesterday up at wright tuning (350evo) in cincinnatti. First, just wanted to thank BJ and the guys up there for everything...great customer service.

Well once it was finished I got in and took it for a spin and Damn ! It feels like a different car. You can definately notice it pull harder through the gears, especially 4 - 6th gears...It pulls like crazy on the highway now. Also coming out of the turns is alot more fun now, Makes it feel like the car is lighter. Gas mileage has decreased slightly but i could care less, it's probably due to the fact that i can't stop flooring it

Anyone who is contemplating getting this mod should...i think its the best bang for the buck mod out there right now IMO.

Faris.. Dude, where have you been? I (as well as other Z owners) have been looking for you. Check your PM.

That's awesome about your Final drive. I've been looking into doing this after my exhaust/cats. You mind taking me for a spin? I've been in Z Cruzn's car and his car pulls like a beast. Of course, he has nearly every NA mod known to man. I was wondering what it would be like on a near stock car. Yours is near stock right? All I have on mine is the popcharger & UR pulley.

If I may so inquire... what did the total bill run, parts and labor?

I am also interested in pricing. Especially install pricing. Also, any strange noises?

no strange noises if it's done right! and the folks at Wright Tuning know what they're doing ;-)

as for other places you might take it... let me just say that i'm out a couple grand because someone didn't put it together right (yes, tried legal, but won't hold up... word to the wise, get everything in writing, including any stated and perceived warranties for parts / labor, before you start the job!)

yea i didnt want to take any chances so I took it to Wright Tuning, no noises or anything, sounds just like stock. install for me was about $570, this obviously didnt include the actual final drive. So it's not the cheapest mod all together but IMO worth every penny .

Did you get the Nismo LSD with it or just the 3.9 gear?

I have a question then... since I have the performance model and it comes with stock LSD, can I reuse it on the 3.9?

yup, most folks who are putting this on there plan on tracking the car though -- so you need something a little beefier.

but for daily driver, the VLSD is fine (unless you're going FI, then you'll end up kicking the *** end out quite a bit )

Nice. Thanks a bunch for the reply. I'm not going to track the car or go FI. Just regular NA daily driver because I'm too poor.

yeah, the limited slip and gears can be replaced independently of each other, it's just at the amount of labor cost, most people end up doing both at the same time

damn, i guess i should've asked around the boards for the lsd lol. It's gonna be hard for me to justify spending the money now considering the additional labor and all.

Just to let those that are "thinking" about doing the 3.9 this Spring......
We have 8 units left in stock that are not spoken for.
Our next batch will be available in 10-12 weeks.
