Shift to neutral without pressing the clutch?!
So I was driving in slow traffic, shifted from 1st to 2nd. All under 4k rpm. As soon as I let out the gas I managed to shift into neutral from 2nd without pressing the clutch?! I did it by accident without any effort. It felt like the clutch was pressed tho it was not. I was like...
So I tried to repeat it again...
I can shift into neutral from 2nd, 3rd and 4th without stepping on the clutch, but only right at the moment after I let out the gas tho.
Anyone have experienced the same thing?
BTW, I have Nismo clutch and flywheel.

Yep, try shifting next time w/out the clutch... as the rpm's drop, gently pull the stick out of gear and ease it into the next gear, it will shift. This is what the syncros are for. I do it all the time

That is how cars had to shift in the old days, you didn't have synchros so you had to rev match.
Motor bike clutches are designed to allow you to do this - car clutches allow you to do it if you've got the skill to match the revs each and every time ..... if you get it wrong - no gearbox !!!!!!!! Your choice mate but I won't be doing it with mine any time soon !!!!!

if you're shifting into neutral your synchros are NOT used and it's fine to do what you're doing. the gears are cut so that when you transmit power through the trans the gears pull together - it'll be really hard to pop it out of gear under full throttle. but when you coast the only thing keeping you tran in gear is some notch thing (usually spring loaded indent stop). so if you're coasting, it takes the same effort to put it into neutral as if you pushed the clutch in. this is fine/normal.
if you're shifting into a gear then your synchros are used ONLY IF your engine speed does not match your neutral shaft (idle shaft? I dunno what it's called) speed when you pop it into gear. the synchros will match up the speed of your neutral shaft and the output shaft (driveshaft). that's a whole different topic. that's where heel/toe comes into play (btw the stock Z is terrible for heel/toe with its megaton flywheel).

aki is 100% correct (several post up). And the NASA space shuttle never has a problem as long as everything works as planned...except for those two occasions where everything didn't work as planned...ooooops.
NOT in my Z!
Yes, you have stumbled upon one of those little known functions of manual trans that is better left a ignored.

Oh ok. Phew...I thought there was something wrong with my tranny.
Yeah, I have only tried to shift out into neutral w/o the clutch. My ***** arent big enough for me to try shifting into gears.
