Crate Engine: A crate engine is a complete replacement internal combustion engine for a car, generally a fairly high performance engine. What distinguishes a crate engine from other replacement engines is that it is a complete, pre-packaged, new-build solution, already packed in a shipping crate (hence the name) ready to be bought off-the-shelf. The crate engine provides a quick, simple, guaranteed motor. Many are built up by the original equipment manufacturer, while others are assembled by specialist firms.
This is in contrast to the traditional method of obtaining a performance engine, which is by building it from components or having such an engine custom built by a specialist. The best custom-built engines can outperform a crate engine, of course, but the cost in money, time, and uncertainty can be high.

Hey! Who are you calling a "pu z"? LOL
Not sure if this one in particular is available here in the U.S. but I've read somewhere on this board that there are a few companies here in the U.S. that are already providing crate engines for our Z. I'd have to see If I can track it down for you though. Yes you can have this engine installed but I heard it's fairly pricey. Perhaps not in comparison to fully rebuilding our OEM engines but still pricey nonetheless.

Would you please post the link about that crate engine up here from Nismo please? I would LOVE to read more about it mate! And want to see what parts do they have in that engine to output 425HP...
And also would this engine package includes the ECU as well? I guess it gotta be the MUST to this type of engine package though.
cheers,
richie

Here's one thread I found in regards to this crate engines. It's fairly old but I think they're talking about the same engine you're talking about:
https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....=crate+engines
Still looking for the other thread I was talking about though.

Funny that we never saw any of this other than the cat-back exhaust...
"As with nearly every other Japanese tuner, HKS has been hard at work with the Nissan 350Z. They've already developed a full line of hardware including a cat-back exhaust, forged connecting rods, forged pistons, billet camshafts, adjustable head gaskets, multi-disk clutch and even a 450 horsepower "crate" engine."
Full-line of hardware my ass, even if it was HKS Japan we could still use the same parts (such as pistons and rods).
And I imagine that NISMO engine would cost you ~10-15,000 at least.
I liked seeing what all the magazines thought about the 350Z though...but we sure didn't get the product support that we thought we were when the first 350Z's were at shows...
(BTW Tomei, WTF is that racing engine you had made for an auto show?...the only thing we've seen from them is cams...)

also,
if you look closely at that motor:
http://files.automotiveforums.com/ga...8/61crate1.jpg
it's not a VQ35. it is probably a VG30, or VQ30, i forget which one. it has different valve covers, and timing plate.

I had a picture with the whole prepped 350z with the engine beside it, but can't find them... you could clearly read VQ35
