Default New Eibach Info

Spoke to Eibach's R&D department about their springs for the Z... What I was told is that this set was designed with spring rates in mind for the existing stock shocks. The person I spoke to said since it is a progressive the initial rate is only slightly stiffer than the stock spring, HOWEVER, he also said the ride surprisingly better with the eibach spring than the stock spring... Which goes in line with my theory that the stock shocks are valved too high for the stock springs... They will begin shipping in 2 weeks... Dec. 25th is the supposed date. Seriously thinking of getting a set, should be about 250 bucks.

How reputable of a company is Eibach? Will the quality be there?

How much drop is there going to be? I'm assuming some. And to answer the first question, Eibach is basically the premier aftermarket spring manufacturer in the US, IMHO.

EDIT: Sorry I just read the other thread, 1.2" rear .8" front. Sounds sweet....

Umm.. .8 inches front, 1.2 inches rear drop. I really wanna put aftermarket stuff on this car right away, but on the other hand we all know that it takes a while before the good stuff usually trickles in when it comes to aftermarket parts. For example the IS300 had several generations of Injen intakes before they got it right, and it was about 1-2 years before the best stuff started coming out... A lot of us are rushing, and it shows... we have like 40 threads dedicated to such minor mods as grounding kits, and people are making their own grilles and such... Stuff like LED lights are a huge deal, hehe... think about it.

Please keep us posted if you decide to get the springs. I'm interested to see the effect on ride quality. I don't know if I want to lower the car any, though, it's pretty low and way too easy to scrape the front end as it is. I'd also be concerned about increased tire wear due to the increase negative camber that would result from lowering the car. Without an adjustable camber kit out yet, I'm thinking this would be a problem, since some are already experiencing abnormal wear and complaining about the camber being non-adjustable.

Couldnt we simply push out the upper arm like on any other car to adjust the camber? Simple lobe with a threaded bolt should take care of that problem

Eibach designs suspension for nearly %50 of the teams currently competing in FIA World Rally Championship as well as suppling countless teams in worldwide GT and even formula car series. They're German based copany started in early 1900 winding valve springs for giant bridge building machines. Now they supply not only aftermarket performance but are also contracted by car manufacturers (Opel, VW, Mercedes to name a few) to design and supply OEM units as well as heavy machinery/mining equipment and all the way down to simple springs for toys.

So, as I've mentioned several times.

Where can I get Ground Controll's for the Z? Since we now agree the Eibachs are NOT crap, then the Ground Controlls for the Z should follow suit.

Id like to throw this thing on the ground at shows, and drive at stock hieght for every day use.

I wasn't implying they were, just didn't have a cliue about their reputation.

What will an average 1" drop do to everyday drivability...meaning can you park next to a curb still?

Honestly 1" is pathetic. I was running 3-3.5" dropped and could still get everywhere i needed in my last car. You will be fine.

Heh, the front is already I think 4.7" or 4.8" inches off the ground. You go too much lower, largish speed bumps become problems.
