I've had a few friends with Maximas and the cleaners ended up eating up gaskets which caused the car to leak.

 

Thanx for the feedback, guys. I was thinking it might be a good preventative maintenance item based on my experience with the SS but I'll stick with the Nissan recommendation and not do it.

My experience has been that they definitely make a difference. Very

noticeable when you have a 5 mile stop and go commute to work. I have used

Redline and currently use Lucas [more economical], both claim to be

non-solvent. Both feel like oil between your fingers. At 15,000 miles Nissan

fuel injector service made a difference, 45,000 miles Nissan fuel injector

service made no difference. Maybe tech has improved.

 

After market fuel system and fuel injection cleaners are NOT needed. All 'top tier' gasolines have the proper amount of fuel injection cleaner already in them. All grades of gasoline have these additives. Early on when electronic fuel injection became the norm, they were needed as the gasoline distributors fell behind in blending proper fuels with the right detergents in them to keep the pintles in the fuel injector clean. But for the last fifteen years or more, modern fuels are all that is required to keep your engine running smooth. Like after market oil additives, they are not needed as are not recommended by any oil or gas manufacturer.

 

I tech @ a nissan dealership and we dont even suggest an injector flush on any vehicle unless its 100k+ miles... I wouldnt worry about doing it until then.... especially if you use quality gas. Like djarno mentioned.

 

2 dealerships in my area Montclair Nissian and West Covina Nissian suggested every 15,000 miles due to sluggish feel because of stop and go driving.

 

Eh I would say its bs, every 15k?? lol just trying to upsell you IMO.

 

well i just used slick 50 injector cleaner....i have an 03 that has 49k on it. i figure the injectors are pretty dirty after 50k, and i bought the car a lil over a month ago...im not sure if low octane gas was used in it, but i figure it wouldnt hurt to put some cleaner through them. ill let ya know if i have any problems.

 

sorry to bump this old thread, but i got a question..

i've done a dyno a year back (may 2008), and my car was running lean. why would that happen? does it have anything to do with the injectors not pumping properly?

wouldn't that mean that i need those injectors cleaned?

btw, my car was bone stock back then and very low milage (about 10k miles).

That is pretty high for a stock car. Looked like mine when I had full bolt-ons and no tune. Have you done anything to correct it? Resest the ecu, etc?

 

i did an ecu reset, but i never did a dyno after that..

still, my car pulls like $hit.

 

I'm sorry to hear that, but even with your minimal mods a tune might be quite beneficial. Especially from the looks of your graph. Granted a dynojet without smoothing set to 5 is rare on here.

 

i wasn't intending to get a tune, it was just a dyno base run. cuz back then i didn't have any mods on, so i thought what a tune would do me good if i didn't have any mods yet? it would just be a waste of money.

bear in mind, this car is a USDM and i imported it to my country (and there are tons of em here).

we have a nissan dealer in the country, and the 350z we get them here aren't JDM, USDM, or even EUDM, they're made mainly for our hot/humid region.. so, tech guys say it's mainly the emission control and other safety measures in the USDMs that's making them pull lot slower.

the versions we get outputs great dyno numbers (stock form), they're always @ 275-295whp. while i've seen alot of the Zs on this forum ranging between 220-270!

at first, i thought yeah, that could be the main reason why my car outputs 210whp. but then after doing my research on USDMs, i found out that they usually output an average of 245whp.

maybe the car isn't adopting to the environment? probably there are alot of internals has to be changed to match the versions we get here? i don't know.. it's just annoying me way too much.

Seafoam it, tune it. Even a stock car can use a tune. Mine stock was really lean untill 5500 rpms then way rich. Last time on a fresh ecu it was really lean like yours. Look into uprev for the Osiris real time tuner.

 

Used to run that in my high mileage mitsu---it ate through the tank!! I don't run that car much during the summer, so sometimes it would sit in the tank for months. Just an FYI.

 

seafoam is only adviced to be used on old engines.. mine is only 17k miles. i'll look into getting the Osiris.

anything other than that i should consider?
