$10,000 to $12,000...what do you do?
Dont mean to offend you gatti-man. In my comment that you quoted if you read it all i did say i def. think wheels should be upgraded for better traction. but there are some people that love the way there seats are and love how there car looks, etc etc. not to step on anyones toes. Just wanted to throw that out there

FI adds front end weight and actually lessens rear end grip will adding the need for even more of what you are losing. A good lsd, rear rubber and suspension set up are tools that an FI person needs. Thats why hed look silly. If someone is running only fi on a stock set up that just strikes me as silly. Sorry.
yeah I agree. I'm coming from the opposite angle. I'm building up all the smaller things first. In the meantime, more knowledge will accumulate and more kits, fixes, and engine management systems will become available so that by the time I would go FI if I did, things would be in a better situation and I'd have good/better traction right from the get-go
hehe that muscle arm/toothpick legs is a good analagy

there's nothing wrong with a well setup NA car and only need to ditch a few parts when the jump to FI happens - parts which can be sold to recoup some of that FI money
Yes. i see where both you guys are coming from and understand. Just 2 diff. opinions on where you would go. Which is what makes so many Z's different from one another. I dont disagree with any of your statements
Dude, you guys are awesome. I've thrown questions out on this forum a few times but never have I got a response like I have on this thread. There are so many great ideas that everyone is submitting. As of right now, I'm thinking SC (which one, I'm not sure), wheels/tires/springs, possibly exhaust but definately tint. Next spring and throughout the rest of the year, I'll look at VB upgrade (I'm surprised noone has mentioned this yet, unless I missed it), headers, more suspension upgrades, then maybe, just maybe, body kit (although I'm pretty happy with the way it looks right now). Somewhere between now and next summer I would like to get a new plenum (not sure which one, I like SFR and Kinetix). The funny thing is, my wife can't understand why I'm willing to spend this money on things that don't manipulate the way it looks. Oh well. Again, you guys are the heat! Thanks for your input.
edit :
if I'm all jacked up about the above, please comment and help me fix this rough draft.

D350Z10, I'm picking up what you're putting down, but what you suggest seems like it might go over my budget. I don't mean to sound negative, but is your advice realistic. Either way, your suggestion will be a good baseline to start researching from.
The same goes for bullseye, I definately want to upgrade suspension and brakes, but I'm thinking I'll have to find a way to meet the FI price in the middle somewhere. That might be hard to do.
So far, with 7 replies to this thread, it's wierd how I notice that I'd like to do a combination of everyone's suggestions. Something clean, leave the body alone, some good wheels and tires, upgrade the suspension and go FI. The biggest problem, and it's obvious, is finding a way to get all of that and pay for the install. Looks like it's going to be difficult. Thanks.
Please keep posting ideas if you haven't already.

I'm guessing this was to me...
Yeah, I just wanted to know what kind of work you were in. My sincerest appreciation for what you do for us here in the states! I am a US Marine, discharged under honorable conditions in 2002, and I believe you deserve every cent.
Ooh rah semper fi!

Im waiting for more people to do the valve body upgrade so i can see what works best and copy it. Being a pioneer tends to be pretty expensive and im not rich lol. Have you seen teh kenstyle body kit? sooo sweet (imo). Make sure you qualify your mods with what you want or where you want to go with the car. Plenums and FI sometimes dont mix, same with popchargers, 3.9fd, and why bother getting a reflash if your just going to get a utec or something along those lines. I suggest making a game plan with an experienced local shop.
I'm going to put in another vote for suspension. You get to use it every day and can adjust it to your driving style. People don't ALWAYS drive at WOT every second in their day usually because of traffic or cops, but you can always feel a nice suspension working.
I just finished having a bunch of stuff installed and my car seems very well balanced IMO and can almost be downright scary with handling and throttle response in say autox for example.
Adding nothing but huge power and not much else doesn't leave you as much room for having fun with handling which for a lot of people is half the reason for getting a sports car vs I dunno a Ford Lightning for example

After going over "6" figures on my 03, I would suggest investing the balance for a rainy day! I'm a fellow Tennessean and would gladly loan you mine but my "sh*t" doesn't run. Put your money in a no load mutual fund and forget about it! ( I'm a "foolish" financial advisor)
similar situation here- another deployment = more mods. Ive had the volks ordered for months now, next Im going FI with pretty much the same $12,000 goal you've got. Im going either APS or Greddy TT (with the usual extras the greddy needs), exhaust, boost/wideband O2/fuel pressure gauges, install/tune. add another $1000 for the almost mandatory new front bumper for the G, and Im done. 20" volks and a TT kit will give me a good balance of show and go.

Counting the purchase price, I'm over $100,000. by more than a few dollars. I "experimented" with n2o for a couple years and replaced most everything at least twice. I'm now going thru a turbo build and install at SGP!

What do you want to do with the car?
Is this a daily driver?
Quite a bit of questions to be answered. When you tell someone you have a set limit to spend you're options are pretty endless depending on the amount.
