Default Quaife Install success!

OK, the great mechanics at CP Racing completed the first install of the Quaife ATB differential. This particular car was a G35 coupe VLSD equiped with an APS TT.

Everything worked, thankfully. You use the new bolts they recently provided everyone, WITHOUT washers, and everything fit together perfectly.

After driving the car, I am happy to report there is zero noise at all. Honestly, the diff feels stock, which is exactly how it was designed. I am not at liberty to beat up on the car and test the cornering ability...I will leave that to the owner. By my initial impressions are positive.

Also note, as discussed before, if you have a VLSD equiped car, you will need to pick up a set of base model (open diff) stub axles.

Let me know if anyone has any questions; here is the link: http://www.forgedinternals.com/store...cat=261&page=1

I dropped my G35s off at the local Infiniti dealer this evening. It goes under the knife tomorrow, for the second and [hopefully] LAST time. I have my fingers crossed.

Sweet, also what did the G35 do on the dyno? Also so for this guy you used the open diff stub axles? Is this the G35 that was there when I was there for my Cusco LSD install?

This was Brian Carter's G35. Yes, Peking..the same red one that at the shop...his car is no running around on your stub axles.

Car was retuned and made 380trq and 370whp...roughly. The unichip was tuned at AAM.

Does the Quaife require any break-in? I'm having mine installed today and plan on hitting a road course all day Saturday. Any problems with that, Sharif?

Will the 3.9 ring gear work with the Quaiffe, I have read that this requires use of an AT ring gear because it is thicker?

dirtroad,
Not really. The Quaife is essentially no different than a convential open differential that is composed of a mess of gears. No clutch plates or other frictional surfaces to break in. However, it would still be prudent to let the newly cut helical gears wear and settle in with eachother before abusing them. This has a positive effect on the longevity of the gears over it's the long haul. You may use the same low speed parking lot figure-8 procedure to achieve the inital wear in. I would also recommend a non-synth diff oil during this procedure. After 20-30 min of this break-in, dain and refill w. a good synth oil and you should be all set.

Resolute,
Since the 3.9 gear is the same thickness as the 3.5 (MT) ring gear, you will need the 10mm spacer/bolts kit from Quaife for it to work.

Technically no. And no need to change the oil or anything after a few hundred miles. If its was my car, I would put 200miles just for good measure, before hammering on it.

Cool just wondering since I was curious on how he would do... Nice numbers, at what psi? Also did you mean "not" or "now" where you used "no"?

I just picked mine up and the ABS light is on. On the drive home, the Brake light came on. Yes, the parking brake was off. Haven't driven more before I could get some ideas on what's happening. Anyone?
