Default NISMO Thermostat running too good?

I heard something interesting today...

I brought my car in to see if the local Nissan dealer could raise my idle to 1000 rpm using a Consult II (I have an early production '04.. procharger, emanage, injectors, return fuel system yada yada).. I wanted it for better clutch take offs ..(ATS clutch) and to counteract some stalling issues I've been having

Well, long story short, they tried everything they could to get my car to the normal operating temperature of 176 degrees F so that the consult II could make the changes.. and they couldn't.. my car won't go any higher than 167 degrees F no matter what they tried.. I have a NISMO thermostat and a bottle of Water Wetter..

They are very cool about my mods and suggested I get rid of the NISMO thermostat if I want my car to run better LOL.. They think the car is running an alternate map or limp mode until it can reach the normal factory operating temp of 176 degrees.. and my car could not reach that temp today (coolish out in the Northeast)..

I have noticed that the car runs a little better in the HOT summer time.. it idles better and is not so jerky in acceleration.. My question is: Could their theory hold some merit??

The theory only holds merit if you use a Consult II. The Consult II will not allow you to make changes to the ECU unless the car is at operating temp...damn Nissan tools...

Just pull the fan fuse untill it gets to temp, then do your stuff keeping an eye on your temp...

I would think that would work...
