Default Will this Defi A/F Gauge spike?

I found this Defi A/F gauge on ebay but wondered if it would have spikes in the reading as it doesn't appear to be a wideband. Any input?

So in other words, the gauge will spike at WOT and whatnot?

It will go towards rich or lean but in a relatively smooth mannor. Its just not rich as in 12:1 rich or 10:1 rich. It rich as in below 14.7:1 or lean as in above 14.7:1. Hope that makes sense

So in other words, it's only use is knowing generally if your car is running rich or lean as opposed to a Wideband which will tell you an exact number. Did I understand correctly?

Sortof...let me clarify a little bit better. A narrow band sensors purpose is to ONLY supply the ecu with an accurate signal at exactly 14.7:1. This is the only range it can be expected to operate accurately. After that it will just indicate a > or < type signal. This allows the factory ecu to start bringing the fuel trims back into line. Till it reaches 14.7:1.

Even then there are more issues to be accounted for. The not all manufactures use the same sensor voltage offsets. A Nissan uses "X" type sensor and a Dodge uses "Y" type sensor. The Defi may be expecting "Y" type signal and the sensor you are using may be a "X".

Not to be to blunt about it but narrow bands have no use in performance. The are specifically emmissions devices. They can be used for light cruise and idle conditions for fuel economy purposes. They are only pretty lights at any other operating condition of the motor.

Since I went FI my shop insisted I get a wideband gauge for those exact reasons so I got a PLX.

But if you're still interested in having an A/F gauge set up (maybe you have an extra pod that needs filling) I am selling my brand new Defi A/F gauge for $95: https://my350z.com/forum/showthread.php?t=149090
