Default Stalling at 100+mph?!?!?!?

I actually didn't know how to explain whats going on in the title, but pretty much the past couple of the days the car has been acting quite weird. I was on the turnpike following a Lamborghini Gallardo vs a S4 fully built motor TT (Gallardo won by 2 cars or so), and when I hit 150mph, if I recall it seemed like the engine shut off and all the dash lights turned on....like when you stall out and all the lights appear, same thing. So I started braking and hit the clutch, put the car in neutral, coasted for a little bit (to about 90-100mph or so), shifted into 4th gear, and the rpms shot up and all the lights turned off and the car was running again. then yesterday, I was driving and as I past 100mph, I shifted into 5th gear and it was as if the car was in neutral and then all of a sudden it kicked in! what the heck is going on? I spoke to a few people and they said it could be a bad alternator, or maybe the clutch is gone....but everyone I have talked to has never heard about that.....anyone know what could be going on? thanks.

could be a result of the pop charger, i heard somethin like that a while back that some cars stall after the pop charger install when coasting in neutral

Well, I have had the pop charger on for about 7000-9000miles or so and I haven't had a problem....as well, I wasn't coasting at 150mph....as I was accelerating it died...so I started to slow down gradually (and I put the car in neutral) and around 90-100mph I put the car in 4th and thats when the rpms shot up and the car just turned back on.

I was about to say letting it "coast" by pushing in the clutch and letting the revs drop, or shifting into neutral can let the car stall and is normal with aftermarket intakes. But, you are saying it is stalling under load... That doesn't sound good at all. I wouldn't have the slightest idea where to start. Can bad spark plugs cause this?

take it to a reputable mechanic.....this could be serious...not for the car, but for your own safety...i would not want my car to turn off or lock brakes or steering or whatever COULD happen adding to the problem...
what if you were on a long twisting road and lost control on a patch or something....

drive safe until u get it checked out....seriously man...

It's the pop charger. Go to a Nissan dealer, tell them to hook up consult two and do an idle air lean reset. If you don't, over time your ECU could learn this problem, but it mostly has to do with the fact that you rarely venture into the 100+mph speed range. I experienced the same problem with my HKS intake.

Oh yeah, I know, I have been trying to baby the car ever since it occured....I sometimes feel a little afraid to drive it on the highway now....it was a very weird occurance. Maybe it is the A/F? I know when I had installed the test pipes the CEL came on (with the non-foulers), and even doing the ECU reset it came on after like 10-15 miles....but after driving it for 2000-3000miles, it suddenly turned off. I did get a read on the code and it was the typical code the fires with the test pipes but it was weird that it just turned off. So I guess its off to nissan to get that checked up....could it be that the pop charger is not clean....I mean, I know they recommend to clean it after 3-4months of driving with it, but it still seems very clean. any other suggestions?

if you do a search, you will find this is a common problem with the popcharger.

it happened to me one time. i was driving around 100mph and shifting from 5th to 6 th and the car went dead. i was going down hill on a curve without powersteering. somehow i pull myself out of the freeway. and i found there was a engine oil leaking. i don't know if the leaking cause the problem. i had not have this problem after i fixed the leaking.

I've gotten the same thing on mine too, but I have a Stillen S/C. Sometimes when I floor it, it doesn't want to go anywhere and then BAM! It takes off like a rocket. And all my lights have flashed before like what you mentioned too except it made the strangest sound at the same time. It really freaked me out. It was like a buzzer mixed with a broken beeping noise. I have never heard so many strange noises come out of a car like the 350Z. Personally, I think they released the car with alot of bugs sort of like Windows 95. I had no problems tho taking up to 160. It went, and stayed there like a champ. My analog speedo read 160 and the digital guage read 159.

See I don't know...when I was stock I had no problem taking it up to that speed but after all the mods, this was the first time I have gotten to those speeds and thats what happened....so pretty much its an intake problem and changing it would solve the problem, or is it an ECU problem and getting a UTEC or something similar would solve it?

Once again, this is a common intake problem with the 350z, especially with JWT Pop-charger. The ecu is over leaning the fuel mixture because of the increase in air flow. Go to a Nissan dealer, tell them to hook up consult two and do an idle air lean reset.

Maybe fuel cut? Not sure but do the z's have knock sensors? You could have been running really lean going that fast and running such high RPMs.
