This is a bit off topic, but the Spec1 heads have 1mm smaller ports but it still flows better than the stock heads, they increase compression to 12 or 12.5:1, they have light weight titanium valves, stronger valve springs, porbabally better guides and other components etc. They are deisgned for racing and are still vastly better than the stock heads so the performance gains arent just in flow increases though they do still flow more. I can see why they made them. The Spec2 werent released till a while after the Spec1s. Looking at that the Spec2s look great for performance, not sure what valves you can use with it though.

Murray,

Both Spec 1 and Spec 2 are using VK45 titanium valves... but according to peter, those heads are pain in the butts to install, so I guess not many people besides racing teams would want to try that out

cheers,

richie

The only difference beetween the spec 1 & spec 2 heads is the port diameter. Just below the vave seats in richie's diagram is the figure 32, that is the dia at that point.
Spec 1 heads 31mm, Stock & spec 2 32mm & the GT300race heads 33mm.
I'd like to know the valve sizes on the GT300 heads, but they dont flow much more then the Nismo spec 2 with the 1mm smaller vale

So for 4500 this isn't that bad of a deal. It comes w/ cams and springs (~1200) on top of new heads.

We offer the Cosworth VQ35 big valves for just $4300 shipped. They start with brand new OEM heads, each one stamped and serialed with the Cosworth ID. 1.2mm oversized valves, using Inconel exhuast valves, 5 axis CNC porting, multi angle valve job, HD springs, Ti retainers, and reshpaed combustion chamber. Totally complete, and just ready for your cams. It's a bargain.

Nobody can honestly tell you how much power you will make with heads. They can try, but it will only be a guess. Well shaped heads, plus cams, and a higher rev limit can yield anything for 10-35whp, depending on a whole host of other factors. Free flowing heads really shine with FI applications. But the Cosworth heads are a STEAL compared to the other one-off ported head packages on the market.

What exactly are you and Kwame running, if you don't mind me asking? How is it different than the ported heads you are selling? Are you in the process of a NA build or is it for FI? Thanks for your info, looking forward to the results of whatever you're working on.

The Z1 in the link above is not the same Z1 as us...we are in NY, they are in GA, the two companies have never had anything to do with each other.

Oh Man, my mistake. Sorry.
Still, what are the details of your head work?

Add cams & shims ($1,200), and pay someone to set the lash correctly ($400) and your aprx $6,000.00 for a set of heads... Use your heads and you can save aprx $1,500-$2,000…

I've been down this road twice already, and it's really pricey... Headgames Motorworks did my heads up with Ferrara goodies - the same setup yielded a 125+whp increase on a 350Z drag car that is using them. I don't have a complete before and after yet, but my car was making over 550ftlbs at 3000rmps (4th gear) before the stock head gasket took a dump. We'll be back on the dyno soon.

Cosworth is a very reputable company, and I'm certain their heads are top notch, and you should expect to pay for that. If you're looking for another alternative from a shop that has some history and track record with the VQ heads give Dave at Headgames Motorworks a call 609-882-3211. Dave has worked on cylinder heads for Bullish racing, Performance Motorsports to name a couple of successful race teams along with a dozen others...

I was just doing search and I came accross this... They offer heads in three stages... Which is good for those that want a little more flow...

I'll post them up soon... very cool stuff...

There is a shop around here that is looking for guinea pig (N/A Z) to do a P&P on. They believe they can get close to 350whp out of a good p&p on an N/A Z.

If I recall correctly, I think one of the guys at performance nissan tried a p&p a while back and didn't get too much out of it. I don't know how radical a job was done though.

Yea I'm really curious to see if a P&P good cams and good tuning would do on a N/A motor... I think 320-330whp would be amazing! A friend of mine might be going in that direction...

I don't imagine you would see all that much from a ported head in a N/A application, unless there was a built motor with some compression or/and a stroker kit..I would say you would pick up 20hp at the very most with a good valvejob on a lightly ported head on a stock engine. The Nismo heads would be the hot ticket on that app. because of the different combustion chamber for higher compression.

Phil I wanna see these pics!! Even though I was there for them
