Default Throw-out Bearing Noise

How many owners have/had a noisy throw-out bearing?? -- sounds like marbles rolling around with clutch released in neutral.

Did the dealer replace?
What model year do you have ??
Did/does the noise go away after warming up?

Thanks in advance for your responses!!!

PS.. I did a search and found a few owners talking about it... just wanted to get a feel on how prevalent this issue is and what the dealer's response was.

Thanks shinkuu!
I had a clicking sound in my previous G35 when I pushed the clutch in. The dealer replaced the clutch pedal assembly and the noise went away. If you like, I'll see if I can dig up the service records and let you know what exactly they replaced.

Hey guys, I had my throw out bearing replaced twice. Both times under warranty, sounded like screws in a glass jar, i noticed all of the Z's I have been in there is a slight sound when the clutch is depressed, I have a Nismo Flywheel and it is a little noisy but I can live with it

I've got an '06 and it rattles all the time. Hot, cold, etc. I'd like to get it fixed, and if possible get them to drop in a Nismo lightweight flywheel while they are in there (not paying for labor becuase the warranty is paying for the noise fix).

Think it's possible?

I have the same sound with my JWT flywheel and my clutchmasters clutch but oh well I guess. My solid engine mounts aren't going to help the vibration anymore either lol.

I'm no mechanical expert, but I can tell you this much.

The throw-out bearing is not what is making that noise. A bad throw out bearing will make a noise when you depress the clutch.

In your case you only experience the noise when the clutch is released, (which causes the input shaft on the transmissin to spin(input shaft bearings perhaps?)). I would make sure your tranny fluid is in working order, but other than that it's normal to hear a little more noise when the clutch is released, because more parts are spinning.

Hope this helps?

Thanks guys for all your responses!

PS.. Jason... the car your dealership sold to a local So-Cal person is now enjoying the climate with me in southwestern Canada -- Vancouver area
Bought it, private sale, in early May and drove it north.

Love the car... and the Nismo cat-back!

Eh... my '06 gearbox isn't all that forgiving. I seem to grind everyday I drive this car as if the clutch isn't put in all the way. I'm not even in a hurry when I drive either! Yes, I have that noise as well. It's not as annoying as grinding when I try to get in 3rd thru 5th.

Mine has always been really loud. It seems to be louder than other people's that I've heard, but I took it into the dealer when I first got the car and they said it was normal.

I'm still on the stock clutch/flywheel and I haven't had any noticable slippage at 380-400whp. From what I've heard, some of the early 03 clutches have better clamping force than later clutches. This could just be rumor, though.

Regardless, my RPS clutch and flywheel will be going in soon.

I had the same problem with my 91 300zx and alot of people were saying it was the throw out bearing but then i got it checked out and found out it was from the input shaft bearing as stated by ROAST

I wonder if dealerships say its normal because they don't want to work on it. Just like stated above, input shaft bearings can go bad as well. So how do dealerships know if its normal if they don't disassemble the transmission completely?

this was one of the first things I had the dealer check for me...right when i brought the car back for the first oil change...they said there was nothing wrong

ill bet that all the dealers know about it, and maybe they don't fix it because no one has had any problem as a result of it

Yeah, mine make the same noise. I've heard the noise in my friends cars too (rx-7). I've had a throw out bearing go bad on one of my older cars, and it sounds like a bunch of crickets under the car, till you press the clutch all the way in.

im experiencing the same problem as you guys too. just like all of you described above, it sounds like a marble rolling around in a jar when it's in neutral, but mine does that even when i take off in first gear. my concern is that is it gonna do any damage to my clutch/transmittion at all? by the way i own a 2006 model. Thanks all.
