What I would try and do first then is see what vendors sell their own built up motors. I know the member 350zDcalb or something similar, builds motors. See if they have any in proper working order and see if they will take yours.
Any performance shop should be able to do it though. I don't have my favorites here or I would be able to tell you 2 or 3 places to check right off the bat.
Definately DO NOT buy one from Nissan though... that is such a rip...

I don't know that you need the computer. My engine is an '05 and had 8k miles on it, my car is an '03 and had 37k miles on it when the engine went. They did not switch the ECU that I know of, and I didn't ask for one, so I do not believe it has an '05 ecu in it. I think you are fine just dropping it in so to speak

if you were here in orlando or even close, i would swap it (motor included) for $2500, i have a long block in my backyard in perfect condition (cough, ZUL8R, cough) and i am about to claim it as my property....
seriously though, im sure he would sell it if you are interested, plus shipping

Audible and Zu,
I'm interested but live in Salt Lake City. We could obviously arrange shipping. What does a long block consist of? Send me more details about the engine. E-mail me at kickinlikechicken@gmail.com and we can chat offline.
Thanks!
Tara

you can buy a built N/A engine with 400 rwhp on a core exchange from the guys in Albuquerque for that type of money. Don't buy a stock engine from Nissan; take the opportunity to own a unique car. Do a search and you will find the thread...

If you're heads are salvageable I'd just pick up a new bottom end and drop that in. Also, whatever you decide, do yourself a favor and go ahead and replace your front/rear main seals, and any other gaskets and stuff that will be hard to get to once the engine is in the car. Be careful not to trip the security system when it comes time to start the car too, cause that sucks.
Just don't pay 8k for a new VQ. If you feel like spending that kind if money just go LSx.
Also, if you have a couple friends and some free time it's really not that difficult of a job to do yourself.
