it's roughly 25% the feeling of accelleration most FI kits would give you, but you'll have to do more shifting and less gas pedal. And your highway gas mileage will go down slightly

Heres the deal. Drag racers want to cross the finish line in top gear at redline. The 350Z has 6 speeds so that is no going to happen. Most 350Z racers will cross the finish line in 4th. As you can see with 103.3 MPH, I still have room before redline.

Yea is the overall drivabilty gonna be more shifting while crusing on the highway or should it stay how it is now wher theres ample power and not much need to shift?
why would you need to do a lot of shifting on the highway? you usually just cruise in 6th gear unless you really need to pass someone. Then you'd downshift to 5th or 4th like you normally would
overall, it's really not much more shifting. In the 1/4 mile if you had FI, you might end up having to do an extra shift depending on how fast your car is

alright, so its not like a mustang then with gears, my buddy has a gt with i think its a 373 iirc and you always gotta shift, not what id like to do. but long as it not like that then great
yeah i have a 5at and went from 3.3 to 3.5, and this was definately the best bang-for-buck mod ive done, and ive done most na mods now. whole new car. dont even think about it- just do it!

now do i get the central 20 3.9 kit? It says its only 499 on z1's site, that seems pretty good price. Anyone know what the labor to install it is? And is the central 20 kit a good one? thanks

I skimmed the thread, but I didn't see it mentioned anywhere that you will lose your cruise control swapping to a 3.9 (unless 6AT Zs don't have cruise... do they?).
I did a 3.3 to 3.5 swap on my 5AT G coupe and am happy with it. I didn't lose any mpg and I do a lot of hwy driving. However, if, when I'm accelerating, I go above about 80 mph, then drop down, I cannot engage my cruise. The ECU takes the speed signal from the rear wheels and the transmission and compares them. If there is a difference of (I think) 7mph, the cruise disengages and a code is thrown, but your CEL will not flash. You will be able to reengage your cruise after the car is shut off for 10 seconds.
