Default Oil additives: If and when???

Guys, searched for a thread but not found!

In the UK, we have a product called Slick50. It's a PTFE oild additive with big claims. I'm sure you have similar stuff in the US.

Has anyone used/would or would not recommend?

I have always put the stuff in older cars of high mileage (my Vovo 850 T5 has 150k and is still going strong) that I've bought, more to add a little extra protection in the lube system.

Is it just a waste of cash as it is around £35 for a dose?

Your view most welcome!

when it first came out I used it, I really don't think that you need it if you know that regular oil changes have been done.

I see a lot of guys change the oil at 4/5k miles. My Nissan dealer says every 9k miles. My mileage is mainly long haul stuff.

Up to 25k now with no oil loss and only 3 changes.....

Guess I will be doing an oil change this weekend.

Just found the thread on the oil additives sham and wouldn't have stuck this one up!

Thanks for the replies though and humble UK apologies to the repost police!

Better go to work (its 7.49 here in the UK!).

Never heard of Slick 50 before?

Wonder if Walmart gives them away for free when you buy 5 quarts of Quaker State?

Changed my mind and decided to work from home today!

As for serving the queen, that sounds a bit pervy! (A queen in the UK is a slang for homosexual!).

Weather bad which has screwed with the trains. Walked to the station and found the trains were either cancelled or delayed.

Unfortunately Nissan requires 6 months and 7499.99 miles to maintain your engine warranty.

Regardless of oil type failure to prove with written third party documents can void your warranty.

Much more important than the brand of oil is the frequency of replacement.
90 days and 3,750 miles can make the worst crap oil [stuff wmart won't sell] seem better than the best at 180 days and 7500 miles especially as the engine accumulates miles.

you don't need additives. your car will run just fine without them.
