Well last night I was at the drag strip and had made 4 passes and was about to do my 5th. I came up to lights staged and decided to really launch the car hard this time. So I got in the sticky groove, reved to about 4500........ green lights, I launched the car hard, got no tire spin and the car just hooked and came out like a bat out of hell. When I went to hit 2nd I went to put my foot on the clutch and to my surprise it was stuck to the floor board yet fully engaged. I let off the gas and the clutch pedal came back up. Weirded me out a lil bit. After my run I was telling some members of my Z club and they have all had that happen to them once or twice while at the strip and this is all years of the 350z. My question is why does this happen?? I have never had this issue in any car I have ever raced. Thanks
your burning your clutch and ****ing up your flywheel. the clutch is not strong enough to handle that kind of a launch. you keep doin it and the car will stop moving
. way to go nissan for puttin in a clutch that cant handle the car. and by the way, the stock flywheel for 06's are about 900, labor is 400 at most stealerships, and i went with a clutchmasters stage 4, awesome.

The clutch can handle pretty rough launches just fine. The clutch fluid is boiling though, replace it with higher temp fluid and an SS line and the clutch will handle this. Not saying it's a bad idea to upgrade, if just to lighten the flywheel, but the clutch assembly itself has nothing to do with the pedal sticking to the floor. In fact, if this has happened to you it might be worth upgrading anyway since this will cause massive wear to the clutch/flywheel if you smelled it burning.
This isn't a new revelation btw, this has been discussed here many times before.

Mikead99 is right. This has nothing to do with the clutch plate or flywheel. It has everything to do with the hydrolics. You typically see this on cars with headers that do road racing.
I have crawford headers (one of the first) and I have had this issue on the track and at the dragon. After talking to Doug Stewart (Mr. Crawford), I realized that the stock clutch fluid was boiling.
The stock clutch line passes right by the driver side header. So, I switched to Ate Super Blue and the issue went away permanently. No need for a stainless line.
By the way, the Ate fluid is awesome and much cheaper than Mutol.

Same thing happend to me during a trip to the mountains. I gotta admit it scared the hell outta me about to go into an almost 45 degree turn with the car in 3rd and downshifting to 2nd to have the clutch stuck to the floor. I called it a day after that. It was fun though.
Yes mine has stuck close to a dozen times in a year. First 3 times were horrible smell but once I discovered what makes it stick (hard driving LOL errrr), it's not so bad but totally a $hitty design flaw.
Will be funny (well you know what I mean) when somebody dies from it when they get splatered by a train or big rig because their $30,000 car decided it didn't want to move out of harms way and the survivng family members sue Nissan and it makes headlines just the exploding Ford Pintos 30 years ago did..

Hopefully, it doesn't happen this May when I am back at The Dragon. Hope to see you there.
