I was watching this video of a G35 on Infineon Raceway

And thought to myself, what if you were to drive like this guy is, only in an auto stick. Meaning running in the same gear and holding that gear through turns and high rpms. Wouldn't that overheat the trans like crazy? I've always heard that running that same gear or holding that gear in an auto, can over heat it insanely, compared to with Manuals. But I guess I don't understand why it would make it so much worse than a manual. In a sense, you're doing the same thing (holding the gear) so why would it make a difference?
