Just got new tranny and clutch, do i need to break it in?

Default Just got new tranny and clutch, do i need to break it in?

hey, i just got my tranny replaced under warranty because it was grinding 6th, but do i need to break it in any special way, the dealer didnt really say anything, but i was wondering if i should go easy for a couple hundred miles. thanks

i would suggest take it easy on the first 1k miles to be safe, and you should be good.

thanks, yea i figured i should go easy for a little while, im trying to keep it under 4k, but it so hard!

I don't think it's quite so much the RPM, as it is dumping the clutch, and running it hard when it hasn't had time to warm up all the way. (about 5 to 10 miles) When i got both (yes both) of my new tranny's, the dealer said they are pre broken in, and you don't have to treat 'em any different. But i still waited 500 miles or so before i really started shifting hard.
