Default 2006 5AT Downshift Rev Matching

Can someone explain how this works and how to tell if it is working?

The 5AT's dont have sequential transmissions so they dont "rev match".

When you downshift in manual mode the computer will "blip" the throttle up a few rpms to give you a smooth shift. The easiest way to see it is to let off the gas and downshift, you can see the tach jump up. I believe its on all 05 Z's and later.

Or when you downshift in manual mode you can physically "blip" throttle

the tach's gonna jump regardless because its going to a lower gear, i didnt think the AT's could rev match when you downshift. I might be wrong, but all of the tiptronics ive ever driven didnt have "rev matching". I know some ferraris and other exotics have sequential trannies tho

It rev matches and yes the tach would go up regardless when you shift but it wouldn't be a smooth shift, hence why it rev matches. The Z is a sequential automatic. A sequential transmission is any transmission that must shift in order such as 1-2-3-4-5 or 5-4-3-2-1, ie it shifts in a sequential order.

The G/Z/M/FX 5ATs from 05 on have a rev-matching downshifting feature. It works quite well and the mags rave about it in the G and M.
