No drone. But then again its not all the way broken in. I dont think it will end up droning. I have driven alot today and I can hear the thing improve as it breaks in. It is smooth deep mellow and sexy. I drove under an overpass and U turned to do it again just to hear that sound

HAYEELL NO! It is beautiful! I once drove an F 355 with a 2B exhaust and I cant decide which sound I like better. Of course I am biased, after all, this car is mine!

I will try to figure out a way to do it once the break-in is complete. I want my baby sounding its best. I do not really have the equipment although I could use my roommates lap top to record.
Raceboy (Steve) maybe you could do this. Do you have the stuff? I am also interested in hearing if you like the exhaust as much as I do!

Hey guys, that is one sweet looking exhaust! And at the price you paid, it's a steal!

Please:

1) sound clip

2) detailed impressions as to the gain in acceleration

with other Borla systems, it has been noted that there is a loss in bottom end torque, but a rise in top end power. Is that true on the Z, or is it all good?

Congrats again!

Awesome looking. Hey did you by chance get to weigh the difference? I have been looking and I heard one say it was 18lbs lighter. Thanks.

I don't know much about exhaust systems, so here's my dumb question of the day!

Would the borla exhaust be considered a true duel system? Actually, what I'm really concerned about, is would this exhaust system be sufficient if you decided to go the super/turbo charger route down the road? I heard people say that you have to have "better flow" for FI applications, and I read other people say that the borla looks like the stock exhaust.

The Borla system is not a dual exhaust system. If you want dual exhaust I would go with the Stillen system since it appears to be a true dual exhaust system. If you plan on going to FI then it will probably be the best in the long run. Just my opinion.

I don't think it's a TRUE dual exhaust since it has a single b-pipe. Not sure what size is the piping, if it's 3" id, then it will be suitable for future turbo upgrades.

For FI or NA application, you don't want to go too large on the piping, since we need some backpressure to maintain the torque.

It doesn't look like a stock exhaust to me, how can you mistaken the "patented" borla tips?

I just meant the single pipe going into muffler and splitting into two tips resembles the stock exhaust (i think, i don't have a 350z, my dad does and i've been away at college for a while)

I just got off the phone with Borla and the technician explained to me that the exhaust system that is on the car originally is very well-designed the system Borla presently has out will not give much gains throughout the power ban until you exceed 4500 RPM where you will get some boost at that point, they also have a new version coming out with dual mufflers that will give a bit more power. And they are also working on headers that should be out in three months or so.

Well I'm definitely still undecided I guess I'll wait and see what evolves

My brother had a borla exhaust on his S10 4.3liter V6 and it sounded awesome. It was true dual and I think that's what i'll wait for and get - Borla True Dual Exhaust and Borla headers. Borla's (pretty much all of them) have a deep, throaty sound, like a diesel accelerating. I really love Borla, they are a great company.

At the risk of sounding like a ricer; the sweet sound of the Borla is enough of a reason to buy it. You also have quite a bit of weight savings. Add in one of westpak's Y pipes and you should be set!

It would be easer to come to that conclusion with a sound sample.

A friend of mine has Borla on his NA 300ZX and it sounds terrible, I'm skeptical, but interested.

I agree, I have heard Borla on a few cars, and I hated the sound and always felt like Borla was a second rate company. Has the traditional Borla sound changed???

Well, I am happy! The Borla does not make your exhaust not into something different. It just amplifies the natural good sound of the Z to something you can hear and feel! Not ricey. I love passing people now. I can just imagine people going "What the F**k does he have under the hood of that black beast?"
