Default shiftknob vibration at idle

i noticed that there is moderate vibration when im in neutral and the car is at a stop, is this normal? I remember in my gs-r the gearshift had no noticeable vibration.

the vibration indicates the engine is running which eliminates the chance of driver turning the ignition key again...fucks up the starter motor.

Z is a real car, not front wheel drive. What's a gs-r, Integra?

If you want, you can get a engine dampner which might help a bit.

I HAVE to ask this, cause i'm so sick of seeing it..... Now that you have converted to a better car...did you actually own a no sh&t "gs-r" like it came from Japan that way? Or did you call it one cause you upgraded stuff/put a badge on it. I'm not trying to flame you. And i don't know a whole lot about hondas/acuras. But i used to hang with that crowd when i was younger, and soooo many people would buy a stick on "type-R" badge from pep-boys and tell you till they are blue in their face about how they had it "imported from Japan just for them" etc. Just askin thanks! (appologize for the thread jack)

lol yes, i actually owned a gs-r. I agree with you, the people that put stickers and 12 foot spoilers humour me, not to mention their lawn mower exhaust systems. What a joke.

It's called "rumble," it comes standard on the Z. Nissan engineers added it at the last minute to improve sex appeal for passengers. You should try driving around with a girl sometime.

This thread is silly...

The Z's shifter is physically connected to the transmission, which is physically connected to the engine. That is why there is a bit of vibration. Watch the **** (on an empty road, preferably) when you go WOT; it will move as the engine torques.

The reason some cars (such as your old gsr) do not have shifter vibration is because they use a cable linkage to link the shifter to the transmission/transaxle. Thus the **** is damped from the engine vibration.

Comprende?

Actually, the Integra's also had a shift rod, as opposed to a cable. (I had a 94 Integra LS, not GS-R).

Now, to clear some things up...
To the OP: yes, these cars vibrate like trucks. Especially when compared to Honda sewing machine smoothness. You'll get used to it, and maybe even appreciate how 'alive' the car feels.

The Integra GS-R is NOT the Type-R. The GS-R was merely the Integra with a VTEC engine, where as my old LS was with a non-VTEC engine. The Type-R was a lightweight, balanced and blueprinted, handbuilt engine, bad-@$$ machine. (And yes, the Z is faster, so no one get pissy)

And finally, to the person who said the Z is 10x the car the Integra was, just remember, the Integra won 10 best list 6 times, was named the best handling front wheel drive car, regardless of price, and to me personally, was the most fun vehicle I have ever owned. (and, no, I didn't have the wing, LED lights, or lawnmower muffler, either.)

Flame away.
