Default Is it the tires or the rear end?

Hello all, New Bee here with a question. My Z is a 2005 with only 8100 miles on it. When I let off the gas at around 70 mph. sometimes I hear a whining noise coming from the rear of the car. I am old school, and that noise use to say that you had a bad rear end or a bad bearing in the wheel. I am hoping that is it just the tires and not something majorly wrong with my little Z. Have any of you had this issue and if so, what if anything did you do?

Thank you in advance for any help.

The normal way is to use a lift [not jacks so the body is level] and run the tires up to 70 mph while a technican listens under the car with a stethoscope to various components.

Sounds like a diff. whine - common on quite a few OEM diffs & on many Z's after final drive gear changes. You can do a search on "differential" and read the various postings about diff. whine & see if it relates to what you're hearing.
