Default The Under Engine Plastic Cover?

Do any of you guys, run without that plastic cover underneath the engine? Do you think it would be safe to run without it?

yea, mine is coming loose on the passenger side. You think it would be ok just to go ahead and take it off?

It is there for aerodynamics and protection of the motor from debris. I know LOTS of people that run witout it. Not the best but no big deal.

I run on the track and street without one, simply becuase mine is trashed, and a new one is about $100 or so. I have been told that the engine actually run cooler without it, by helping draw air upward, and out of the rear of the engine bay. Eventually, we'll probably fabricate our own diffuser.

It does offer some protection against road debris, and things, so I would prefer to run with on, but it hasnt been an issue for me.

Hope that helps.

I'm sure that not using it disturbs zero-lift. Although, who would really notice...?

I haven't ran mine since my first oil change, close to 2 1/2 years now. I know it's post to do this and that, but I don't see where it has had any effects. I feel that air would have to be drawled up into the bay from underneath anyway. The undertray would probably helps more, but not to where it must be there. But if I wasn't so cheap, I would love to have the ARC.

the only downside of not having one is a very dirty and dusty engine. I have to have one. I hate the look when you can see it through the front bumper hole. I dont' like seeing the ground through it. But a nice intercooler would solve that problem.

Thinking about removing my under-tray as well. Had to stretch it over the gtspec lower tie brace and tends to rattle at low rpm when it's cold.

I'd be interested to hear from anyone who's modified the under-tray to fit the lower tie brace from gtspec or if any aftermarket will fit better.

I have mine installed, but I cut all of the plastic from the front stabilizer bar back to the Gspec bar off. I was afraid that if removed the tray completely that it might cause engine cooling issues especially with an intercooler installed. The way it is now the tray covers everything from the bumper chin to the end of the radiator.

it does stop small cats from being sucked up into the fan belt.

Lmao. Kittehs in the fan belt is no good.

It provides some protection from road debris but mostly just keeps dirt and dust out of the engine bay. Running without it will allow the more dirt in under the hood. Shouldn't see any negatives from it, although you pay pick up a belt squeel if the belts get wet while driving.

You can take it off and have no problems. It's there to cover up the ugliness, lol.
