Default Not using the heatshield air duct screws on pop charger?

How many folks have installed their pop charger heatshields with out the 2 small screws that are suposed to be screwed into the air duct? I just installed my heatshield and I noticed that the frame bolts alone made it fairly sturdy. Is it an absolute must to use the screws? Any ill effects from not using them, such as rattling or noise issues? Yes I searched and nothing.

Important to keep in mind that a 10% reduction* in filter [intake system] resistance is just equal to 0.68% in mass increase, whereas each 11F drop in air temperature increases mass by 1%.

* evaluated by measuring plenum pressure [drop from 14.7 psi in atmosphere] at HP peak rpm.

WOT plenum pressure is usually ~~13.9-14.2 psi or 0.8-0.5 psi lower than earth's supercharger.

Always pick the system option which delivers the coolest air even at the expense of restriction in flow.

even though you loose air intake speed with CAI systems because of all the bends in the piping? I know there was thread on it somewhere. Please keep in mind that I am still using the heatshield, just not the to screws that gointo the airduct.

I did a search on intakes when I got my Z and found that there are several threads both anti-CAI/pro-JWT Pop Charger and pro-CAI/anti-JWT Pop Charger. I think both are fine. That is, what one lacks (e.g., cooler air) its positives makes up for it (e.g., no throttle response delay...this is my experience w/CAI's).

In any event, you already made up your mind on intakes, right? I mean, you already have a JWT Pop Charger. So, to answer the question you posted which is do the two screws matter, I would say "no". I have never had a squeak/rattle issue nor has the unit moved.

BTW, I have three intakes for my car (I'm funny like that). I like the sound of the JWT the best, so I roll with that one the majority of the time.

Hope that helps!
