I was reading through a window sticker when I went to pick my car up about a week ago and it said "Nissan Direct Injection System" in the engine description section. I pulled my sticker when I got home, sure enough, says the same thing.
I know the advantages of direct injection (better charge cooling, better metering and atomization, etc.) and know that it is ESPECIALLY advantageous for a turbo car. Understanding the HR will be getting turbo-ed for the GTR, knowing that they increased the bottom end strength not only in the block, but in the shear area available to the crank bearings, lengthening connection rods, etc., all things that would reduce crank shaft vibrations and forces - is the HR out in the 07 in a testing phase for the GTR?
Why would DI be put in the motor if not for turbo apps, and if its to test for the GTR would these improvements not indicate that the motor can take much more boost (nitrous also) than the DE's?
Just curious, maybe all the VQ's have it and I just never noticed, but I thought it was cool and it made me happy knowing I had one

For as much as I've seen them copying BMW's technologies (and usually improving weaknesses, example variable valve lift) I'm surprised to see them as a pioneering company.

US fuel quality [sulfur%] is still marginal for DI if life much beyond warranty is a concern.
Toyota is attacking the problem with a simultaneous use of conventional and DI [2 injectors per cylinder one of each].
