I believe they're the same, just the 350evo cost more. I got my Central20 from Adam.

Central 20 gears are "copies" of our 350EVO gears. We developed the 3.917 ratio for these cars when they came out, all others are poor copies of ours! Why not have the best for your car and no problems (such as gear whine)?

with all due respect Mike (as I have your gears in my own car, since at the time I got them, yours were the only ones available), they are not copies of anything when it comes down to it, and, as far as whine, that is totally due to the install (ie my gears, which I got from you, whine, because I don't have the exact shim needed).

I thought 350evo used to be a sponsor some time ago. What happened to that?

They are copies because we were the 1st to have them for the Z, and with that 3.917 ratio specified. We sold some to some customers in Japan and a couple of months later Central 20 came out with theirs in our ratio. Maybe that was a coincidence?

You are right that any gear can make noise if not set-up right, but I have heard from too many people that their C-20 gears were set-up professionally and they made noise.

Mike

The Race team was actually handling 350EVO then and because of that many orders were not taken care of, phone calls not answered, etc. I am sure that the sponsership was dropped at that time because they had no time to deal with it.

I took over running 350EVO in 12/06 to straighten out everything and get back on track.

Not a coincidence at all, since I know exactly where Central 20 gets their gears from...you might be surprised (or maybe not?). It's a factory, Nissan part, from a Japan market car. This is also why NISMO themselves offers the 3.9 final drive too as an option in Japan - they raided their own parts bin.

You were the first to mass market it for the Z yes, that I will give you.

Funny, because I've had the exact opposite response from my customers who got the gears, and we've sold quite a lot of them at this point. The issue of noise/no noise, is completely down to the care taken when the install is done. My gears were professionally installed, but a transmission shop that does alot of 6, 7 8 second drag race stuff. Unfortunately, when my gears were being mocked up for install, the specific shim I needed was backordered, so I had to make due with the next size up. This caused the gears to be installed on the loose side, and as a result, I get a whine at cruising speeds. I just have not had the time, or particular interest in dropping the pumpkin myself to take care of it, though at some point I might.

I had my Central20 final drive, Nismo 1.5way and Nismo rear diff cover installed at the same time and it doesn't make any whining noise.
