Recieved my UR Under Drive Ultra SS Pully Set
No.
AnywayZ
2.0 60' on motor with stock tires on 18 in rims tonight.
If that isn't enough I will post my burn out pics and Jimmy's he was there so was Channel 10!
Was fun.
Don't do the pulley's they may void your warranty but the "Act" may protect you they have to "cause the failure of the covered part."
I am way beyond warranty lol don't do as I do if warranty is a major concern please.

Depending on your dealer, they must prove that the part you used caused a failure. The official line says that you can use replacement parts equal or better than OEM. My dealer had no problem with me putting SS lines, DOT 4 fluid and ducts on the bottom of my car as these all add to the brake system. I don't think the pulleys would be a big deal. With our VQ being internally balanced I don't think there would be a problem. I think this basically applies to things like FI or NOS. You can't blow up your engine and try to hold NNA accountable.
A couple clarifications:
Good News:
Water pump - The Z's water pump is internally driven by the cam chain and it is not driven by the belts. The pulley you are referring to is an idler pulley. See Pictures. So naturally you will not have cooling issues with UD pulleys.
Bad News:
You claim that the crank pulley does not have a harmonic balancer. After looking at the pulley on the car I can see a rubber dampener which keeps the crank shaft from dangerous vibrations. So the consensus would be wrong on the idea that the VQ35 is internally dampened.

Actually, the claim from the various sources are the engine is internally balanced, not dampened
I'd say we should ask Carter to see if he knows or can find out. Should be the same for all VQs, I'd suspect.
EDIT: Here is one article saying the engine is internally balanced. *shrug*

Always the naysayers.
I was well over 100+ several times today and made 6 or 7 runs on the bottle last night.
Did you email UR with your findings? Have you tried the pulley out at all on your car?
This seems to happen with every mod introduced since the group started.
No gains, Intake Dyno's are wrong or phony, Eibachs ruin the shocks blah blah blah
Geez..

Carter is an engineer at the Nissan engine plant here in Dekard, so I'd trust what he says.
Should you do the mod knowing this? Sure, if you want. Just go into it with your eyes open. Most performance mods would decrease longevity, anyway. It is all a factor of how much risk you will accept.
I think you are taking his comment too seriously.
started a new stressful job today actually still "briefing on the assingment." 9 hours in a closed room with no windows.

But has Carter experienced vibrations? What I am trying to say is I do all these mods and post about them and get numerous PM's of other peoples success and thanks ad stuff then people who haven't tried it start second guessing it without first hand knowledge. They did that with my exhaust, with my intake with my ZEX and now the pulley's.
I'm thinking of the SAFC and now they are trash talking that too!
Meanwhile *my* car gets faster and faster!
Let me ask this and I am not being arrogant (neve rhave)
has anyone else here took an Auto 350Z Touring to 2.0 60' on all motor with street tires? When they have post their mods and slips.
Lots of talk, but I posted a post your time slip thread and it was ignored. Anyone actually racing besides me

Edit add,
I am grumpy tonight got up at 500am.
The good news is people lwent out and bought the Injen, they bought the ZEX (several here are now installing it) and now they are buying the pullyes. I am guilty too of being ECU skeptical myself so shouldn't critize hope I didn't offend anyone, quitting posting because I am tired. But I'm off graves, got a raise and have one more day shift tomorow of "briefing" and then swings, sleep in etc!!! No vibrations though!
Peas!

I thought about that and didn't sorry!
It has a key lock and a bolt, you lock it in place and tighten the bolt.
It's small. It locks the flywheel tooth in place to keep it from spinning then you use a torque wrench on to the tool and turn it.
MT's won't need this tool because they have a clutch.
You will need an impact gun if you do the alt bolt too with a 3/4 in
W/O the tool the crank bolt just spins and spins and you risk breaking a flywheel bolt.
Fkywheel Crank Pully Puller?
Jimmy chime in here you know the offiicial name.
Paging EJ!!

On behalf of all on this site I thank you! Mr. Hax
Thanks to you I am now considering the UR kit. I wouldnt have before. Pretty good of you to take the risks and share the results with us!! Those Guys should be sponsoring you.

If the crank pully you are using has a rubber dampener . . .great. If not, UR needs to consider adding one.
I could have went on a "How you are destroying this and that" rant but I just offered information. Do you think I did not go out to the car and look at our setup and consider the pulleys? I did. Thats where I saw that there was no waterpump pully (good) and that the crank pulley was dampened (bad). I dont have the pulleys nor want the pulleys (for NOW). There are still too many unknowns about this car. I commend you on your efforts and your openess with information on your progress.

I knew I wasn't crazy, Buschur Racing makes UDPs with dampeners for the DSM cars. Won't help us I guess, but I knew I'd seen some UDP sets with dampeners included.
Thanks all!
It's my pleasure and fun to enjoy the mods and post the info too!
Mine has a water pump pully, part of the SS Set and shown in my pics.
I have an emaiil in to UR's top man (above the tech's) on the damping issue or non issue (to be determined) thanks for pointing it out.
I don't think UR would ruin their reputation by releasing something that would damage everyone's car but still I await there reply.
Peace!

You were close Max
......Flywheel Holding Tool......not very technical sounding, but i guess the inventor was modest......sorry 'bout being so slow on the draw.....you know me, always showing up late
.....got my pulleys on the way, got my mechanic ready, I'm next for 10HP
.....oh BTW, my secret mod fell through Max......not a possibility yet.....i'll tell ya the details later

*I'm* not talking about any damper they are

stock photo no rubber anywhere! I'm not stupid I did ASP pulley's on both my LS1's that were Harmonic Balancers.
He lost me when he said there was no water pump pulley when clearly there is. It bolts right where the old pulley was.
shown here.

And I also posted no vibrations and no one here has one on that can dispute that and mine has been on over a week.
