Arrow 500RWHP Clutch Options

Looking at clutch options and getting a bunch of short "i heard"s, "somebody said"s, etc.. when searching the forums.

I understand the get what you pay for theory but 2-3K for a clutch needs some discussing. When you get into the 475-550 RWHP range what kind of clutches have y'all been using with and without success. Please post your reviews here with your RWHP, Clutch MFG and Type, and How you like it.

Are 6 Pucks really that hard on the leg? Are Twin Clutches really worth it?

I did not see this going back 20 pages searching on keyword clutch so...

If this poll has been done before lemme know and I'll kill it. I did not see a poll or good discussion on clutch styles other than MFG specific touts on a few threads and I spent a good hour looking through stuff.

What are you using on that beast? I'm actually debating between rebuilding an ATS/Carbonetic clutch but after looking at how much of a pain it is to get part replacements for the thing I decided to look at other options. After searching figured I see what people are using as there are plenty of FI rides out there now.

Honestly bro...best clutch I ever had...

ATS Triple carbon....its expensive...I paid 2k for it..but it feels close to stock and it will outlast your CAR....no issues...hard to slip..but you get used to it.

Clutchmaster FX400 is great, holding the power plus almost stock engagement.

ATS triple carbon if you can afford it, if you are on a budget, the JWT or CM FX400 is a great option, both hold VERY good power....

500 just about any clutch will hold 550 is the turning point!!

i had a rps 6 puck that would not hold over 480, that clutch made me really mad (nothing worse than to be limited with a clutch issue) so i will not use them any more...

hope it works out well for you though man!!

I decided to go overkill with a triple disc clutch. The last thing I want to do is have to make the "clutch is slipping" excuse...

first, I know of no full radius, solid (springless) disks out there

second, without listing specific options, how is this going to help your decision?

A 6 puck is no harder on your left leg than any other clutch type...the pressure plate determines how hard the pedal is, not the disk

You also need to specify your uses for the car. The type of clutch one uses for constant drag use can be vastly different from the one you use on the street, or the one you use for true road racing.

I've had my Cusco Twin plate carbon clutch since my engine rebuild- feels great. pedal feel is pretty smooth and not hard on your left leg at all. revs quick too.. i think it's mfg'd by Exedy but modified by Cusco to their specifications. i like it alot.

Wow, suprised so many people still running their stock clutch with a 500HP setup!

Z1 Performance - I'm not just trying to get people to tell me what to buy I wanted to get a serious discussion about high HP clutch uses as I haven't seen a thread with it on the forum yet and I think the clutch is a very important part of a high HP car.

Interesting to see people debunking the "multi-puck is hard on your leg" idea. the wiki actually states not to use the ACT for anything other than track use?

not really sure what type of discussion you're going to get though, aside from people just telling you "I run this, I run that", know what I mean?

The wiki is obviously wrong, and whomever drafted it, obviously never used the item in question. The pressure plate on the ACT 6 puck and std disk are the same, hence, pedal effort is the same.

Again, without listing your specific needs, its going to be just another "I run this" type of thread, with 0 technical value.
