Default Nismo LSD

Hey all, did a search but I can't find what I need...

When people talk about the Nismo LSD being loud, is this only at low speeds around a parking lot/turns? or is this at cruising speeds? I will be using motul with this thing.

my nismo lsd is fairly loud at low speeds, but the motul fluid did make a big difference. it's mainly around parking lots and anywhere else you would have a slow turn (stop signs/lights). when cruising, you won't hear a thing.

so basically only when it engages in slow turns not in a straignt line...I was worried I would hear it while on the interstate (gear noises).

yes, when it engages/disengages in slow turns. you get used to the scrubbing sound but on certain surfaces it makes the screeching sound instead. after a while, you learn how to drive around to make the least possible noise. the hardest part is explaining to the ladies that it's SUPPOSED to sound like that.

+1 on the Motul 90A fluid. It made a huge difference as far as the noise is concerned. Like deviljon said above, the noise is (was ) only an issue in slow turns at parking lot speeds.

I like the slapping sound it makes as it disengages when I shift into 2nd at the end of a slow turn. Sexy.

vitviper, how do you like the FI exhaust? do you feel a loss of power in the low-end? i have 3.9 gears and it still feels a bit sluggish.

The FI exhaust is great, there was no lowend loss at all. The test pipes helped that much more... opens up really hard at 3k or so.

+10000 I love my diff. I used Motul 90pa and its really quiet. Just have to learn how to drive it without making the noise. My GF still ask if it's supposed to sound like that. hehe

Should be no noiser than stock in a straight line. Super slow speed corners (u-turns and sub 20mph turns) is where you feel/hear the rattle/vibration that people talk about. The motul does tame it significantly. We carry the magic Motul 90PA on the website if anyone needs it.

it's good to change the oil about every 6,000 miles. You can actually go about 10k but we recommend changing it every 6

Sharif, just ordered some Motul from you yesterday. I have to say, the best customer service ever. You can surely expect more business from me in the future!

so... i picked up some motul diff fluid from west covina nissan (sorry sharif, but they're only 5 min away from me) and left it in my trunk. one of the bottles somehow got cracked and spilled onto the carpeted trunk mat. let me tell you, that is the nastiest smell i've ever smelled. the other bottle is fine but i don't even want to reach into the bag to grab it!

so just be careful you don't spill it!
