Look at the parts list:

Fujita intake $288
SGP Cat-delete pipes $240
GReddy Ti cat-back exhaust $575
DC Sports headers $475
JWT S1 cams $1,050
JWT Clutch kit $400
JWT flywheel $400
Skunk 2 plenum spacer $210

Total for these alone: $3,638

Hmm....yeah and for another 3-4k I could be turbo.......
even if you do the labor yourself it wouldn't be worth it. Cams will be a lot of time and and PIA to install -> and for what? 15 hp? All the other mods combined might make 15 hp if you are lucky

So using your $ figures
NA making about 260 whp or 30 hp gained:
30 hp at $3638 = $121.27/hp gained

FI making ~330 whp or 100 hp gained
100 hp at $7638 = $76.38/hp gained

FI making 380 whp (more along the lines of what turbo'd setups see out of box)
150 hp at $7638 = $50.92

there is a thread floating around here somewhere that is about the mods to their cars that people most regret, and surprise surprise, most people regret their NA mods because the car is almost completely unresponsive to them. as a result, the end up spending a bunch of money and having a car that is barely faster then stock.

i dont know what cars you've owned before, but if this is your first rwd sports car, then the Z will be plenty fast for you. it will take you a while to get bored with it, so in the mean time save up for a nice turbo kit.

alternatively, if you just have to modify your car, do stuff like suspension work or wheels or something that wont effect the engine.

just my $.02

you won't even break 300 whp with those mods

and don't forget to factor in an ecu, tuning, install (if you are paying).

300 whp is an absolute JOY on these cars. Those who say "NA is a waste of money" simply have 0 exposure to what an NA Z will do. As an owner of one, I can tell you without question that it will easily run with your popular TN single turbo cars, PE cars, Vortech cars, on stock blocks, if you execute the NA route the right way. But, it's not a cheap route to go, and it's far more complex than just a list of "wow" parts.

This isn't the first RWD car, I've had a Nissan RWD car since I was 15

1970 Datsun 240Z L28ET swap
1883 Datsun/Nissan 280zx Turbo - built motor, TO4E, Haltec,misc bolt ons
1995 300ZX 2+2 TT swap
1995 240sx (died before I could mod it...damn college chicks)
92 240sx SR and bolt ons

so as it stands coming out the box, I'm already bored with it,lol.
So coming to the conclusion of what the Z is capeable of out the box, and going the NA route or the FI route, FI route would be the way to do.

Eh..also been looking at a C5 vette. Hell cams, heads, headers, intake, tune, exhaust 430-450whp
