Default Warranty....?

Does the powertrain warranty go off of the year of the car or manufacture date?

So my car is an 04. Does that mean my Warranty was from the manufacture date in 03 up until 08? So I'll have my warranty until some time in 08 (whenever my manufacture date was)

Also another question is does my car have the prevailing 3rd gear syncro problem? I'm thinking about borking my transmission so I can have it replaced before my warranty is up next year... 5th gear already grinds (i got it this way) and its getting quite annoying but I don't want the dealer telling me it was "customer abuse"....

I got this off the Nissan website:

The warranty period begins on the date the vehicle is delivered to the first retail buyer or put into use, whichever comes first.

New vehicle warranty is 3 years/36,000 miles whichever comes first and the powertrain is 5 years/60,000 miles

If your cars having tranny problems they should replace it with no question..my CVT on my old truck failed 2x and they replaced it with no questions..can they really even see if it was abused by you too much? If you haven't taken too many trips to the service dept I don't think they'd think you beat on it much...just my 2 cents

Please read and reread the warranty booklet until you understand your obligations to the CONTRACT. The things YOU must do and prove you did to maintain the powertrain portion in effect.

Read and understand wear and tear and the things that are not covered.

j/k

It's a tough read! What is/isn't covered is almost mind boggling!

Well you don't want to look like a real idiot when they point out things written in black and white that you didn't understand.

Requires at least a law degree to really understand.

Most people don't realize that you must have legal written proof of an oil & filter change every 180 days even if the car wasn't driven 1000 [100 or 10] miles in that period. 181 days and they can void engine warranty

Default ask dealer

you can just email or call the dealer and they will tell you for sure, and will also tell you if you missed any recalls when they look up your VIN.
