Default Veilside 100mm Throttle Body!

Veilside's 100mm Throttle body!?!?
Does anyone have this? What kind of gains do you think it would give. I know someone on this site earlier polished their throttle body and it did nothing, I think it was Dwnshift. I expect the only gains with this would be sound. Any comments on this???

What is up with that? They have to charge over $500 for everything and anything for the Z. Especially a TB, what are they, like $200 for every other car???

If I remember correctly, the bigger TB people were talking about from one of the Infinitis cost more than that from the factory.

On the other hand, dwnshft posted they tried a bored out one on their race car, with no effect.

That part doesn't even look like it is for the 350Z. The TB on the 350 is electronic and that looks to me like I see a linkage connection...

100mm throttle body on a NA car... hah... your torque will go the way of the honda
you will not see significant gains in HP (if any), and you WILL see a dramatic loss in torque with that large of a throttle body on a NA car...

example: veilside put their intake manifold and 100mm tb on a 600rwhp supra a few months back in scc or something. sure, they made 67hp up top, but lost like 45torque everywhere else. and that was on a high-hp FI car. think of what it would do to a mid-hp NA car...

Pardon my ignorance. How do some mods decrease torque, though they increase air flow?

Because although it will increase air volume, it sacrifices air velocity entering the engine.

well torque is a measure of work done, and requires back pressure to exist. there is no engine that has no back-pressure. even open exhausts have it with the atmospheric pressure. this isnt the best explanation or most techy but it should give you the basic idea...

a larger throttle body like this would increase response time due the slight inherent lag from the electronic throttle body.

Q45 TBs here in the states are $700 new... also electronic.. BUT can be rigged to work on our intake system.
