Clutch Sticking
OK here is the deal, car is at 56k miles, i bought it at 52k.
on the path to re-engage the clutch, the pedal will stick right at the engage point and take a second or 2 or me putting my foot behind it to pop all the way back out.
I know that this can happen when the clutch heats up too much, but this is from a cold start and happens at least once every other acceleration cycle.
anyone have any ideas? i am a tech, but i have never done a damn thing with clutches so yeah. i believe that it is the clutch going out, any other substantiated thoughts?
asap please before i order my new stuff
04 Z btw
My search has turned up, master cylinders, slave cylinders, clutch lines and the clutch flywheel itself as being the prob, so sorry to beat a dead horse just really cant afford to replace the clutch right now unless it is absolutly needed

I had that problem after I took it to the dealer to get my master cylinder changed. They forgot to bleed the clutch line. Took it back, they bled it, problem fixed. Good luck!

I had this same problem. It started about 2 weeks ago and I have 55K miles. It only does it every so often under hard acceleration. You have to lift the pedal with your foot. It's like it gets stuck a little bit above the clutch engagement point.
Sometimes it feels like the clutch slips a bit, but then I try to do it again and it won't do it. Do you think bleeding the clutch line will help?

bleeding might help, i found the best test was to come to a dead stop put it in sixth and see how long it takes to kill the car, if the car moves forward at all without dying, time for a new clutch

bleed clutch line, get air or whatever is in there out, fill it, lift the clutch so it's in up position, and let it sit for 15-30 min, and everything should be good. I had that problem when putting a new tranny in the car.

Also during normal driving the pedal gets really "spongy" and the engagement point changes.
Im taking it to the dealer soon.
I just started experiencing this the other day. I thought the clutch was going but the problem seems to come and go. I also do not notice it slipping at all. I only have 23,000 miles on the car and I don't drive hard. You mentioned slave cylinder however when my old 3000GT would have a slave cylinder go out the reservoir would be low on fluid. I checked the Zs fluid and it is still at the max line
this happened to me the other day when it was quite hot out...except in addition to the sticking the clutch would not do anything till my foot was to the floor! so i let it cool down and it has been fine, for now, until it gets hot enough again. If it is the master cylinder will Nissan fix it for free under warranty?
bleed the fluid and replace with mobil DOT 4 brake fluid. Cycle the fluid thru 2 or 3 tanks. Cycle enough fluid to make sure ALL of the old fluid has passed out. When you think you have bled enough fluid, bleed it again!
Basically what is happening is impurities tend to appear after the fluid heats up past a certain point. The fluid then breaks down and leaves stuff such as contaminants and gas vapors in the hydrolic system. This basically forces a multitude of things that can have the same effect you are experiencing. These gases can either block a line leaving the clutch engaged or prevent fluid from pressurizing allowing the clutch pedal to rise back to normal.
Old corvettes (like 1994) are notorious for these issues. They would just bleed teh system and add a nice big spring so it never happens again....maybe that will work for you guys.
