Powerlab Manifold Spacer $200 / 3.9 Gear and Labor $800 / K&N Drop in Filter $60 / Test Pipes $160 / UTEC $700 / Tune $300 / Spend the rest on little things like a SS clutch line, New Brake Pads, or maybe look into a lightweight pulley kit. Yes, you can get good gains from tuning a N/A car.

yeah but that is 700 out of a 2500 budget. Fail. I am really wanting to stick with Rota wheels and BC coilovers on this guy just bc of the DD factor

I was assuming he wanted to add power. A utec in a stock engine and all could yield 15hp. Bottom line, n/a bolt ons will always yield very minor gains. A utec could be used later down the road if he decides to go FI, as he could also keep most of the mods I suggested.

Setup your suspension first. Hit up some lowering springs (tanabe, tein, hotchkis). Pick up some hotchkis sway bars. Add some wheel spacers to your stock wheels to make them close to flush with your fenders (about 25mm all around). Or pick up new wheels. Go with a plenum spacer, mrev plenum and some high flow cats to add a little more aggressive exhaust tone and add a little more power. Add a popcharger if you would like and call it a day.

Since its a DD, i would stay away from F/I and N2O.

saying utec on minor mods is bad...must be on crack. a good utec tune will net you more than a spacer, test pipes, exhaust or most other NA mods independently. plus getting you a higher rev limit.

personally, id go with all suspension. thats something that you get a lot more for you money

Coilovers? Looking at $1000+ with labor and all. I think the stock Z handles pretty well for street driving.
I guess this all boils down to what people like and what people consider a good add on to our cars. I look at Coilovers as a waste of money because I would rather take that money and put it towards rims or add more power to my engine. Some guys may put that towards NOS, new seats, body kits, exhaust, or a shopping cart wing and some may just add stereo components and just weigh their car down. There is really no right or wrong answer. We all give our suggestions and then everyone can decide what they would like to do to their cars.

honestly looking at your sig, you wasted a lot of money 330whp w/ all that coilovers > supercharger imo.

ok, get the lightest 17s you can find and some really good road race rubber for them. then get a spacer and test pipes and call it a day. should be fun

IMHO I wouldn't waste a dime on a suspension for a first mod. Where's the fun factor? A little better cornering than stock? With carefully chosen mods and some bargain hunting i still would go intake-exhaust-UTEC or Cobb.. AT least with those mods you'll get a little power - nice sound. Those are two factors that i'd take over a little drop..

Looking at his sig makes me happy, but i feel bad for him.

I have a vortech tuner kit.....338whp on sharif's dyno.
Utec
Walbro
440cc APS injectors
Titek TP
Stock Exhaust
No spacer
No grounding Wires
Stock Clutch
Stock Flywheel

All on a 3.33 pulley.

Aiming for 380ish on:
Plenum
HKS exhaust
3.12 pulley

As far as coilovers being better then a sc, its all in what you want out of your ride. Some people loveto Autox and think its the greatest thing ever. I like a good looking car that handles fine. If it handles great then thats ok too.

Ummm I'm happy for now with the power I have and 330 on a DD is decent, sure I can add a smaller pulley and a few other things and easily be around 400 on a DJ lol. I just wanted to start out conservative and go from there (Stock Block). Yea I spent a lot and I also have a ton of room for more power when I choose. Since when is that a bad thing? Why don't you just offer your advice and not talk $hit about what other people offer as advice. Oh and just remember the OP asked for our advice, I never asked for yours. I will say you do have a nice ride and some good power for what its worth

Say what you want, Sharrif tuned it and I'm very happy with it. I could daily drive this thing it I wanted to. My goal wasn't all out power, it was longevity, reliability and a car that pretty much starts and drives like stock. Nothing worse then having a toy that doesn't work. To be quite honest, if I wanted big power 500+ whp, I would just get a C-6 Z06 Vette with a few bolt ons as I am in about a year. Too many issues with reliability when you get into those power numbers with the VQ. Not to take away from anyone with big power in our cars, I just don't have deep enough pockets for that.

im not dissing you at all. what im saying is your car must be weak or it was tuned on a very hot day. sharif also tuned my 350z...........in august........on a hot day. for the mods the power seems low.

A little better handling? Coilovers are night and day.. wasn't trying to be an a$$ just saying you spent a LOT of money for little power. and suggesting a UTEC to an NA guy ..

is a fantastic idea because it will give you the single most qualitative gain of the NA mods? i guess he could just get a 48-pin pro-efi and be done. that would be a pretty nice gain
