Default SouthBend Clutch

Hello,

I have searched and only found a few threads on this company, which mentioned nothing but good comments.

I am looking for those who abuse your clutch by hard launching, drifting, burnt outs.

what I mostly do is hard launching, but never while gasing and clutching at the same time. even thought I would like to do that.

my stuck clutch is giving out after just a few months of 400rwhp.

I was considering the JWT combo, but chatter was a big thing.

I know that anything aftermarket will create more noise, but I hope to narrow that down with good fluids.

Thanks in advance for your inputs guys...

I had the DXD-F, 6 spokes, sprung hub and the strongest pressure plate they make which is the one that comes in that kit.
It was perfect for abuse. At the track, I could hotlap as much as I wanted launching the car at 6000rpms. I never had a problem. Now, the only thing I didn't like was the small chatter that it had (not noise) when trying to slip it slow.
Right now, I have the same pressure plate and the street performance disc from ACT. Still strong, but smooth. Oh, also, the most important thing is to keep your stock flywheel. Trust me, if you put a lighter one, the noise will drive you crazy and the performance advantage you won't notice, other than rev a little faster which doesn't improve jack. I've tested them at the track, not worth the inconvenience.

Most people that use a lighter flywheel, wish they didn't.

I would resurface the flywheel, yes. Some people say it can't be done because its a dual-mass, dont listen to them.

I had mine resurfaced and along with a South Bend stage 5 FE clutch its holding over 400rwtq beautifully. I love this clutch.

I would say the stage 4 OFE or stage 5 FE... And dont be scared to go with a full face, you dont need a pucked clutch to hold the torque, mine is the full face and it handles abuse great and retains excellent drivability.

I would never recommened another clutch brand at this price point.

Remember they are talking about torque at the engine, not at the wheels. So in reality you are making over 400ftlbs of torque if you have 382 at the rear wheels.

For such a small price increase between the stage 2 and stages 4 or 5 I would over buy the clutch. Like I said, my stage 5 is very drivable so its not like you're sacrificing civility for more holding power.

so your saying I wont get a cramp in my leg everytime i press the clutch, I am sure its heavier than stock, but I would like it to be very drivable.

It will feel very similar to your stock 03 clutch when it was newer. The 03 clutches were a lot stiffer then the newer models, so you should be pretty acustomed to it already. I don't find mine overly stiff at all.
