So after researching the borla extensively I ended up purchasing one from street sports, then installing it on my Z the other day. Shortly thereafter I took it out for a spin, and was VERY dissapointed. THe sound was DEEP as hell, and sounded nothing like the sound clips I had heard on here. On top of that it was LOUD as hell, I could hear resonation all the way through the powerband and I was espousing weird looks from everyone around mee. I have to admit it sounded agressive and mean, but after driving for 15 min my ears started hurting.

So what went wrong?

INCORRECT INSTALLATION... my mechanic forgot to tighten the clamps correctly, and the H-pipe junction in the middle wasn't fully closed. SO it was like I was essentially running an open header system with some cats...

After retightening all the brackets and aligning them properly (to cover the slits in the pipes) I went for another test drive.. It sounds BEAAAAUTIFUL!

I HIGHLY recommend the Borla exhaust, it's a bit deeper than stock, but brings in a completely different higher pitched sound. And when you rev it up the sound is almost melodious. Just remember to tighten the clamps up correctly or you might end up like I did!

I was worried there for a minute when I began reading your post. I think I'm definitely going with the Borla True Dual this forum has convinced me - I mean you guys seem to LOVE the system.

Haven't heard anyone react so emotionally over ANY other 350Z mod, period - including the superchargers.

By the way,is that your car in pic below your screen-name? If so, what type of wheels are those? I've gotta get those. That machine is PHAT!!!

 

Hehe! I installed the Borla also....after i ordered it, I was afraid it was going to be too loud, but now I'm wishing it was just a tad louder!! *sigh*
