Default rev limiter

Hey guys, just wondering if anybody has gone pass the rev limiter. If you did, what did the car do? Does it just cut the gas flow to the engine? I had the rev limiter set at 4500 and I forgot to change it when I went passed 5000 and my car made a popping noise. Is this normal?

if you set the RPM shift lite to 4500 and didnt shift until past 5000, nothing will happen. the popping noise that might be another coincidence... but the stock Rev/fuel fut is set at 6600...

Try it and see. Get in an open area and run the car to the red line. Now you know how it works. :-)

And as Cheb said, you didn't set the rev limiter. You cannot change the rev limiter without reprogramming the engine computer. What you changed was the blinky light that tells you "shift now dammit!"

Cool, thanks guys. If the rev limiter didn't make that noise, then it must be the tranny. I felt something hit the bottom of the car or something broke in the tranny. It made that noise when I was shifting into 3rd. Damn, I hope I don't have to have the tranny replaced like the other guys.
