Default Wheel alignment info from Nissan

Guys,

Not sure what your experience has been but during my 5,000km service, the service manager was telling me wheel alignment needs to be done at Nissan.

His reason was that they need to also adjust for VDC and traction control.

I was very sceptical however they had to redo a Z that had been done elsewhere and the car had no end of problems with VDC.

I know others that have not had an issue so far.

Thoughts?

Mike

If it was necessary it'd be in the shop manual.

FWIW, I've had an alignment done and had no problem what so ever with TC/VDC.

Im pretty sure Nissan changed the allignment specs on our cars recently. Someone posted that their service manager just got these new specs in, and anyone with a service manual (or at least the origional specs) can verify this...unfortunatly, I have niether.

PS:, I have em on my computer, but cant post em here, but you can search for the link.

Actually, it is. It might not be an issue if you aren't off much, but there is a reset that can be done to recenter the wheel for some of those computations the computer does on steering angle vs vehicle travel angle.

They're not talking about resetting the steering angle, they're talking about adjusting TC/VDC. I understand how the two can be related but that's not what they've said so I have to go by what they did say and I maintain there's nothing in the manual indicating TC/VDC have to be adjusted when you get a wheel alignment.

Further on my car some of the settings were way out of factory spec so IMO if they can't get it right the first time why would I want them to do my ongoing alignments?

If your steering wheel is to one side when it should be straight then by all means have them reset the steering angle and then have the alignment done by professionals.
