Default how much space is required under strut bar?

I was just wondering what the minimum space between the strut bar and the upper plenum should be. Will any problems arise if the plenum and strut bar make slight contact when the engine is reved hard?

Thanks

I did do a search but I couldnt find anything

A little scuffing on the plenum maybe. Other than that a slight bit of contact shouldn't be a problem.

Are you asking this because you installed a plenum spacer? If so, you need the spacer washers under the mounting points of the strut bar. Motordyne supplies them with their plenum spacers.

Yeah I did just install the spacer and the mrev 2+. I didn't recieve any spacers with my kit but I did spin some up on a lathe out of aluminum. It didn't even dawn on me about the motor twisting a bit while reving until after I fabricated the spacers so right now I have a few mm of gap under the bar. Its an aftermarket bar so its thinner than the stock one and I still have around 5 or 6 mm between the bar and the hood with the hood closed. Should I put a few washers under the spacer as well or just leave it the way it is?

thanks

that would work. I would say if you don't want that many peices under your strut bar then to go to home depot and get some spacers. Just curious but what size spacer are your using?

You need some space. The plenum will expand when it heats up, making greater contact. It is known that contact between the 2 can cause abnormal vibrations/sounds, plenum scuffing, and possible cracking(so I've been told)...

get some 3/8 washers from your local hardware store..i had a hard time with this myself after installing the MD spacer and then trying to put my arc strut bar on. VO7848 told me to pick up those washers and i had no problems. Perfect fitment with zero contact.
