Default Quaife 6 speed sequential box

Did i miss this being announced or something, or did it just pop up under the radar?

"The new Quaife 6-speed heavy duty in-line RWD sequential gearbox has been designed as a direct replacement for the Nissan 350Z gearbox, and incorporates a modular gear cluster on 80mm shaft centres.

Quaife has returned to its first principles with this new heavy duty in-line gearbox, opting for a cutting edge, clean-sheet design. The result is a new 6-speed sequential unit, the QBE60G, which weighs in at just 38 kilograms. (plus bellhousing and gear lever mount)

Designed for rear wheel drive applications capable of handling up to a maximum of 400 lb/ft and 450 bhp, the QBE60G offers ultra-rapid and smooth gearshifts, allied to superior strength and reliability, and even features paddle shift compatibility.

The Quaife 6 speed heavy duty in-line RWD sequential gearbox has been designed with open face dogs on both the gears and drive discs to allow for easier gear inter-changeability.

The Quaife 6-speed heavy duty in-line RWD sequential gearbox has a drum type sequential gearchange system which produces a positive engagement with the gear lever position options.

QBE60G customers can specify long and short input shaft options QBE60G according to customer preference and three ratios sets are available, in either straight cut or helical tooth forms.

This gearbox has a NEW bellhousing and ger lever mount to fit the standard Nissan 350Z positions.

The QBE60G uses standard Nissan clutch and release bearing (not included) and standard Nissan output flange pattern.

Current ratio options are:-
1st 2.769
2nd 2.057
3rd 1.579
4th 1.260
5th 1.104
6th 1.000 "

If it's heavy duty then why can it only hold 400 lb/ft and 450bhp. The stock gearbox does better than that. Nice to have a sequential gearbox though.

It can probably hold more power than that, they probably just don't want the liability of it breaking under a 800hp load.

No, I don't see this being a very "hot" item at that price.

I agree! Just buy 4 or 5 CD009 and swap them out if they break. I suppose the only attraction is that its sequential. Doesn't ikeya formula make a sequential adapter for our gearbox?

Yes they do. So you can get a brand new gearbox, and and Ikeya Formula sequential shifter, all for about a third of the quaife box. Bit of a no brainer really. I know it's not quite a full sequential, as you still have to clutch in and out, but it's a start.

They are not even comparable. It's honestly the same comparison as say... A stock Nissan 350Z and a stock Porsche 997TT, both sports cars but in two different categories.

The Quaife is a true Sequential gearbox whereas the Ikeya Formula isn't.

I suppose as sequential gearboxes go, 10 grand isn't too bad. Some people are saying they can cost anywhere from 15-20 grand!

$10,000

You could get a Radical SR4 with a sequential gearbox for $40,000 that would literally drive circles arounf a Z with a $10,000 sequential gearbox.

It wouldn't be much fun tying to park it though.

Anyone since had any experience with this? My friend has recently purchased a new 2009 370Z (stock AT), it is dangerously near as fast as my mega-built 2005 350Z. Hard to believe but I suspect his auto box paddle shifters are the reason behind it. I may be willing to pay 10k if it then smokes his 370.

OS Giken makes a straight cut dog engagment set that uses the stock transmission case... you get replacment countershaft, and all the gears... not sequential but dog engagment so you dont need to use the clutch (if you have ignition cut shifter)... cost around $6K... i think I don't have my HYPER REV at home

it's not available for purchase at this time, and it's still a completely different animal to a sequential box such as the Quaife as you mentioned
