Question Rallitec shifter - information

I am trying to determine the current status of the rallitec short shifter. Here is the question:

Are there any issues with this shifter if it is installed with the new style bushing and the modified control socket? (rattling? etc.)

Please post your experiences, good or bad.

(I don't doubt that it makes the shifting nicer, I am more concerned with quality issues and/or unintended side effects.)

i have had dweeb's shifter for about 4 months now. the socket and bushing originally supplied with the shifter produced LOTS of noise. the rattling was so bad i thought about going back to the old shifter. then dweeb sent me the new control socket and new bushing and sleeve. the noise was gone, but the shifter was very loose and felt horrible. then the fix...

i used dweebs new control socket and reinstalled the original (from Nissan) bushing and sleeve. the noise is gone, the shifter is tight and gates very defined. i love it.

it was a little work to get it right, but well worth it. i would recommend it to anyone. hope this helps. PM me if you have any other questions.

As much as I hate to do this I have to share my experience with this product and more specifically "dweeb".

I may prattle on a bit here so please forgive me!

I ordered my Z back in March. I then ordered my short shifter, I was no 18 in the original order.

Anyway, got the car at the end of June and put the shifter straight in. Yeah, I got the standard rattling noises with mine, read all the posts in this forum, went to the Rallitec site and found there was a fix. I let dweeb know I had the problem and he was to send me a "fixed" control socket.

That was about 5 months ago! I still have the rattle and the only solution I have is to take out the shifter and throw it in the bin. If I remember correctly with the exchange rate at the time it worked out at close to $500 Oz.

Now, obviously I have tried to contact dweeb to get a solution. His first response was that he had sent me a control socket and "you didnt get it?". After a while I sent a few more emails with no response. It was only when I said I was going to put ***** on him here did he come back with a response, something about being overseas.

He then said he would send me "another" fixed control socket and, you guessed it, mysteriously it has gone missing too, bugger me!

I have sent him numerous emails since, with no response to date, and I notice the "qwik shifter" part of his web site is "under construction" and has been for some time.

I could go on for a while longer but Im sure everyone has the picture.

It's a real shame this person takes my money in good faith, supplies me a product that is obviously not working properly, doesnt get back to me and then disappears.

As Ive mentioned on another thread sometime ago it would be nice and easy if this person was around the corner from me so I could go and shove the shifter where the sun doesnt shine, but, unfortunately he is half way around the world.

In summary, if anyone is thinking of buying anything from the person DON'T or you'll get ripped off!!!

Please remember if anyone wants to respond I am in Oz and it is a long way to go to "return" it, and, I have tried numerous times, in vain, to get it sorted out.

Thanks for your time.

As always

Unfortunately they released their product long after the aforementioned product, and, Im not keen on spending another $500 on a short shifter.

Thats $239US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!+ Shipping, which works out to about $500 OZ!

I forgot to add one thing.

The other explanation for me not getting 2 allegedly shipped control sockets in 5 months is that I must just be unlucky?

I gotta say that Dweeb has done right by me.

When he got the control sockets and bushings in he sent me mine fast.

I put his titanium shifter in my Z.
In a nutshell I have the new socket, new bushings, old sleeve, and a cut-out from a plastic milk carton under my spring. It still rattles but nowhere near as bad as the original setup.
Since the new bushings are much thicker than the original, and the old sleeve is much thicker than the new one... the combination of the two together make the gates extremely narrow. There is no slop side to side now but full freedom into and out of the gates.
Aside from the slight rattle I am very pleased with mine and wouldnt have it any other way.
It was however a pain in the butt to get to where I am now.

Sorry to rehash this but I was doing some reading and came across this and thought I'd give an update for anyone interested.
Here is an email Dweeb sent me back on November 18th.

Harrold, I just sent you “another” 3rd control socket kit today ( I had an extra one lying around). Just incase the other one (2nd one) will / did not make it there. If this one doesn’t make it there, it will have to be shipped by FedEx or UPS at your cost. The cost for that is CND $75.00.

I really hope that you get it this time.

Dweeb

As I (and perhaps others) suspected the alleged "third" socket hasnt turned turned up as yet (its only been about 7 weeks). So Dweeb has sold me a product then has ran away and hid when there has been a problem.

I also note, as at today, his web site (for the qwik shifter) is still under construction.

All I can say to anyone who wants to do any dealings with this "person", DON'T!

I just wish I could find who has a 350z control socket fetish in the customs department in Oz!

I did, unfortunately, the only thing I could and that was to take the shifter out and put the OEM back in.

This is all really a shame because the shifter itself is great, it's just all the noise I couldn't put up with.

Now, I feel better!

all the issues surrounding this shifter blow my mind. some have problems, some don't, with the same equipment.

i installed mine, and had rattles. dweeb sent the "modified" control socket and new bushings. installed again with mod. socket and OEM bushings and everything is perfect. no noise. great action. great feel. my only suggestion to everyone is to make sure you lube everything very well.

i love this shifter, and in light of the recent developments with the snapping rogue shifter, i am even more satisfied with my purchase. sorry it isn't going well for some of you. the guy doesn't do this for a career, he is just an enthusiast like us trying to add to our short after market list.

Biggy, rather than respond to your psot here I have responded to the thread you posted to singing the praises of Dweeb and his product.
