Default Diff Backlash Spec's

Alright, so I was the OP of a thread about my 3.9FD whining..
Well I am going to have it re-shimmed.
Anyone know the backlash specs?
I have tried calling 350evo (got some verizon wireless message)..
I have tried e-mailing them..

0.10mm - 0.15mm (0.0039" - 0.0059") Anything in this range with a good looking tooth pattern when you paint the gears will yield a quiet setup!

So is .10 loose and .15 tight? I did some digging and found the 350EVO instructions in with the KAAZ stuff.. I'm a lazy bastard.. And forgetful..
Anyway.. They call for .08-.10...
And I think I recall the dude at Mr.Transmission telling me it was at .11..
So would that mean that it's too tight? Or loose?

If I remember correctly, there is no real way to tell what the backlash needs to be set at until you're actually in the process of putting everything back together. But I may be incorrect...

That is the acceptable range. You could end up with any number from nothing (tight) to very large (loose). What you want ideally is a number that is right in the middle of that range that I gave although anything in the range is considered good. Use the range that I gave you...it is the one for the gear set from the Nissan service manual. I would not use the backlash range for the diff since it is lower. 0.08mm will be too tight especially if you run the car at the track etc.
