Short Throw Shift. HELP ASAP!! Please
I started to install my new short shift, got a call to leave, so I had to put everything back together.
I got as far as removing the top 4 bolts that hold down the rubber boot under the actual boot and the 3 bolts that hold the bracket that sits ontop of the shift ball. NOW when I started screwing those bolts back in and got everything put back together. And got moving.. umm I lost 5th and 6th gear..
WHAT DID I DO WRONG!! PLEASE HELP!

Did you put the plate on wrong? There is the part that works as a reverse lock out maybe you have that on the wrong side? It goes to the passanger side, or maybe the shift lever itself got spun or twisted

do a search for installing a short shifter. I know that you have to cut out a notch on the plate to be able to go into reverse. maybe it is the same for 5th and 6th gear.

when you reinstalled the triangular piece, you did not line it up perfectly and it's too far over to the passenger side - as a result, those gears are going to be blocked. You need to loosen it back up and shift it over slightly. You can do it with the car in 5th or 6th and move the shifter as you move the plate to where it should be and tighten it back down
