My theory is it has to do with a your exhaust being too restrictive. I have a customer with test pipes on a Borla, and it makes the same hissing sound on decel when you free rev it. He's upgrading to the Motordyne soon, so we'll see if my theory is correct or just a bunch of crap.

oh i seee...so what your saying is, in theory, that my exhuast is too restrictive and the buildup is causing the noise?

I have the hissing noise when the revs drop with HFCs paired to stock exhaust but not your other problems. It's normal.

btw, all this talk about vibe and farting is turning me on bb

I just installed my Motordyne Shockwave exhaust on my Z with Berk test pipes, and there is zero hissing. Plus, it sounds mean as hell

I added Strup test pipes and got the same noise on the stock system. I added a Motordyne XYZ and it was fixed. The Y back is stock, and has no rattles or hissing. I used the base XYZ pipe and didn't need the resonated or catted pipe.

Very possible the noise your hearing is your Y pipe hitting the M brace. Mine did that with the V2 test pipes and a tanabe system. No probs with the V2's on my motordyne system

to be honest changing as many exhaust as i have with leaving stock ypipes on. trying to break the bolts loose on the back of the ypipe and some being so rusted i had to use a big breaker bar. it made the flex joins bend more than intened. after that the hiss came. so might be the same thing a lot of people are encountering.

The sound you are hearing is normal. I also have the V2 test pipes. It's the infamous "tingy" sound associated with test pipes in general. There are many videos on youtube that will show the sound you are describing.

I got rid of the sound by adding a resonated x-pipe to my X02. Sound is gone.

If they're resonated, It's your resonator coming off. Same thing happened to me , eventually get's worse. usually made the noise coming down in revs about 3k..too bad though the design was nice ..execution not so much.

naw i dont think its that...i think the hiss is air escaping through the flex area...or what these other guys have said. cuz when i put the pipes on as soon as i backed out and let off the gas it did the noise...

it is the sound that you hear like a hiss/rattle when rpm are decreasing when letting off the pedal.

i had the same issue with my berk test pipes. same sound. between that and the ses light coming on every 20 miles i took them off and sold them after 2 weeks. i am not goinf with straight pipes agian until i go fi. i tried many thigs to get rid og the sound. i even took it to a muffler shop and had them listen to it while on a lift. the sound appeared to come from the resonator area. people have fixed it by adding another larger resonator, but it wasnt worth that much trouble for me.

you just have to live with it or throw more money at it.
